I threw it a nine. That area of the world was my old stomping ground so it was nice to see it get some looks internationally. It's really nice there, especially in the summers.
I liked the SIARPC, the film was good, the news was almost cars-y (sorry guys! haha) and the lexus thing was okay... though usually when they hate something they find one ridiculous redeeming feature so it isn't a total smokeshow but I guess the Lexus must really suck.
In other news, yes, go spend your money in the Kootenays! (which is where they were). Hot springs, wildlife, few people and a couple gorgeous lakes in the summer. It's lovely.

I like the pickup segment for several reasons:
- it was something completely new for Top Gear (the idea to rescue Hammond)
- New environment (well they did went to the north pole but it's been a while to see some proper mountains and snow)
- Funny and car related
- Interesting about the emergency signal from Breitling (expensive though)
Good series, this episode a bit better than previous: 8/10

I like how the opinions on this episodes are all over the place.
I enjoyed it overall, though I skipped the star segment. I have been doing that a lot more lately, especially when it's some pop star with a bad haircut that I've never heard of before. I thought the whole truck segment was fun and funny. Never thought I'd see a Canadian Tire on Top Gear! Haha.
That's at least the second time Jeremy has mentioned someone stealing stuff from the back. Not such an issue over here, but I guess it could be a problem in the tighter areas over there. I'd like to see the numbers on how many drive pickups in Britain, or even just in London. Probably a bit higher than I'd figure.

It was a little funny at first but, it got stupid real quick. The farthest they really should have gone was "order from the pudding menu." Even if it was in the name of comedy, those aren't friends. The "ha ha, we could help you but we won't do that because it's not convenient" is just dumb.
Nice plug for John Hennessy! Clarkson didn't royally fuck up an off road vehicle.
Lexus shouldn't try and compete bmw and Mercedes. Just make a nice luxury car instead of Toyota's version of Lincoln with a sport button.
Excellent 9/10! Great Lexus review, first interview I've watched in a long time, and I was very entertained by the pick-up rescue. As an American, I see these trucks every day and always thought they were huge buffoons, but I have more respect for them now even though TG was driving very expensive versions. That Silverado is easly $40k which is a shit-ton of a money over here.

Properly entertaining episode. The Lexus parts felt a bit like "This car sucks, so here's an excuse to drive the LFA again", but the pickup truck segment was full-on entertaining. Imagine, Jeremy saying something positive about an American truck! Offroading in the snow is such ridiculous fun. 9/10 for me.

Superb episode. Would've been a 10 out of 10 were it not for the, as ever, incredibly boring SIARPC segment. Just ditch it already. I reckon Jezza's RC F review was purely done so he could take the LFA for another spin... I don't blame him.

I agree, although I gave it 9, just in case next week's is better!
I usually flick through the SIARPC segments when I discover they're just selling a movie I have no intention of seeing, they're not interested in cars or driving, and too often they're accompanied by a huge 'I'm a star' ego. However, Gillian was a rare endearing exception.
It'll be interesting to see what this episode's voting shows up when held against some of the early comments made here. Some people really should find something else to watch.

I assume you are being sarcastic, but nonetheless, I've been camping a number of times in areas similar to where this episode was filmed, and it's not nearly as bad as the film makes it out to be. If I was born into a well-doing Brummie family, I too would be a bit put-off by the weather (snow, temps, etc). But, I was instead born near Seattle and am now an Eagle Scout ... outdoorsy shit was basically my weekends for the last decade, thus Hammond's campsite doesn't seem that bad. I think Hammond was angry because he was bored and wasn't getting any sleep.

I'm a bit torn about this episode. First things first, Jillian Anderson may have glued herself to the seat she was sitting in. Jeremy awkwardly didn't hug her, because they may have decided to make a pornography right on the TG set right in that moment in front of everyone, if they embraced.
Anyways, on to the show. I didn't like the RCF segment as much. I have already seen the Chris Harris review of the RC-F and so I was expecting to hear it was bad. The Samuari effects seemed kind of pointless to me, they didn't go well with the segment. I would have liked for Jeremy to have had to drive the RC-F every single day for a week and really let his senses soak in the car and explain why it was rubbish in a proper Jeremy Clarkson manor. I get the feeling he would have many things to be annoyed about after having to drive it for a while. There are a lot of similar Top Gear-style reviews out there these days, but they don't have the personality that Top Gear can deliver. I'm not really interested if the RC-F is good, I am interested about what particular details good or bad, are honestly picked up by the Top Gear hosts.
On to the truck segment, the first half was rubbish. sorry Hammond, but I don't think you needed to suffer for those four days at all. I feel there was a missed opportunity here for a proper hour long special, as the guys driving across Canada in some sort of "Figure out what the best american truck is to drive across canada in" challenge would have been brilliant. Dodge, Ford and GM and figure out a bunch of challenges to test the trucks in Top Gear fashion. Drag race, towing, off-roading, etc. It briefly started to feel like a road trip special right after the scene of the guys getting breakfast and it was very enjoyable. I enjoyed the guys shopping and getting decked in proper truck driving attire.
Lastly, a quick note about the news, it was great! It is most enjoyable when it is presented just like this.
Overall, I would rate this episode a 6.5 out of 10, but bump it up to a 7 out of 10 because it still was a fantastic way to end my weekend and "collapsed sun" is one of my new favorite terms.
