Well, the pickup truck piece was a bit, shall we say... "why"?

The Lexus thing and Gillian Anderson thing was good. The rest was appalling.

Well the film was enjoyable. It was funny when it needed to be, it was tense when it needed to be, and it was good. Bad and boring SIARPC for the first time this series, unfortunately.

Honest Lexus film? Yes
News? Interesting
SIARPC? Probably my favourite ever. Although I admit bias since I have always fancied her and even more with her natural accent. Charming and delightful to watch.
Pick up film? Since RH has proven time and time again that he can't act I do believe that they left him there and pretty much all we saw was, more or less, for real. Daniel Day Lewis would have struggled to convey how pissed off you would be in that situation if it were fake.

Solid 9/10.

SIARPC segment seems so pointless nowdays. It's so rushed that i can't find any entertainment in it even when you have good guest.

So far I'm happy with this series, no Bolivia but luckily no hovervan as well.

I don't get what's the point of having the "rescue Hammond" premise. Just, don't write Hammond into it. There was no point in his involvement, further emphasized by the fact he wasn't even rescued by Clarkson and May in the end. If you took all the references to Hammond out of the pick-ups segment, this would have been great. Just leave the focus as it should have been on the cars themselves.

So angry that he is in the eps is very difficult to fake . I think Hammond was pissed at those boys

It was a fun part for us who see the program as entertainment and not just car chat

Whatever floats your boat. I would find it hard to believe that Hammond was faking it up there just for comedy purposes. He really looked and sounded like he wasn't having a good time. If I found someone getting genuinely angry and angrier for real to be entertaining, I'd be watching stuff like Big Brother or the X Factor. I kept expecting Hammond to punch Clarkson and May in the studio at the end.

Well, if we take it exactly at face value - they had no survival experts, didn't bunk off to the hotel at the base of the mountain while waiting, etc - then how the hell did they get it past the BBC's Health & Safety Dept? As claimed, they're putting Hammond & the crew's lives in danger.

If they DIDN'T put their lives in danger, then why claim so definitively that he had no help?

And either way, this isn't a Ray Mears show, where's the gain in (claiming to) stick him up a freezing mountain for four days? The premise was thin at best.

We'll agree , to disagree .

Jeremy has said earlier that Hammond actually was in the mountains all the time waiting for "rescue" for real. Pretty impressive.

Another great episode. This is turning into a very consistent and high quality run, reminiscent of the also-ten-episodes Series 10.

It's possible to have no help with you but with help on standby. They probably had a rescue team on standby in case the team got into serious trouble, who were probably the ones that ultimately picked up Hammond. Of course that might make the statement sound a bit disingenuous but I don't think any reasonable person would expect Hammond and his team to be there alone with zero means of rescue outside of two idiots in enormous pickups.

Besides, they've done dangerous stuff of a similar nature before - the Polar special springs to mind. Yes they had a support team but there were potential dangers where the support team would be utterly ineffective and there was still a fair bit of risk involved. In a slightly different vein, the Vampire accident was another film which was evidently very dangerous, and Hammond was almost killed. Health & Safety does not mean that you can't shoot dangerous stuff.

And either way, this isn't a Ray Mears show, where's the gain in (claiming to) stick him up a freezing mountain for four days? The premise was thin at best.
I personally found it very entertaining to watch Hammond slowly melt down, but aside from the comedy aspect I think just watching a Silverado and a posher F150 going up the hill for no reason would be a bit boring and pointless. It gave them a bit of humour and a chance to test the cars on the road as well as the mountain.

Quite a strong episode.

The Lexus was honest but a bit boring sadly, Gillian was adorable as SIARPC and the main film was really good.
Although I would have liked it better if Hammond was in a 3rd pickup instead of Jezza and Cpt Slow rescuing him, saying that it did make me laugh at points though.

8/10

This season is shaping up to be the best in a long time.

So while Hammond was waiting for a real rescue, Hammond clearly stated you can get around the world in 24 hours. How long did it take Clarkson and May? Four fecking days, most of it wasn't spent trying to get there as quickly as possible. They were fannying about having a nice holiday in the name of Top Gear comedy.

If you're gonna keep the premise, at least try hard at it. Keep some comedy but bloody hell couldn't they not have been in Canada and on their way in their trucks by the time Hammond's signal stopped. Did people give this high scores for their "can't be bothered" attitude towards this rescue mission? Losing the signal before they even checked in at Heathrow? lol That's funny.

What was pretty impressive was that Hammond didn't actually die. No thanks to Clarkson and May.

Solid 9/10.

Agreed. Usually I skip at least some of the SIARPC but this time it was actually worth watching.

Incredible episode. A perfect balance between "Top Gear comedy" and actual car content, I really want more of these sort of episodes.

Lexus review - great.
News - for a first time in a long time, actually entertaining.
SIARPC - I didn't skip! Enough said
Pickup film - love the perfect amount of silliness and car porn, I expected it to be boring, but I really liked it. Also, the cinematography was excellent, with those DOF shots and drone footage!

8/10
