24hr Nürburgring 2023

I'm looking forward to this as always, it's basically the only endurance race I watch and I plan to watch as much of the night racing as possible this year.

I will try and watch as much as possible. Last weekend when I was there, there was already campers set up, and fencing all over to control where people go.

Frikadelli has finally won the 24hr Nürburgring with a new distance record (163 laps) with a new car, this year it's a Ferrari 296 GT3. Second is ROWE Racing with a BMW M4 GT3, third is Mercedes-AMG Team Bilstein with an Mercedes-AMG GT3. Unfortunately Sabine Schmitz isn't around anymore to witness this, but I'm sure Klaus Abbelen will dedicate this victory to her.

Oreca did a great job on that Ferrari

Great race

Great race with no rain but lots of action. This picture is from about 00:30 local but I lasted until 4am with multiple live feeds and the timing, I went to bed just after the Logan incident.

Once the #911 car went out I swapped it for one of the TCR Hyundai Elantra feeds for a while and was surprised how infrequently the car was overtaken. From the POV of a leading car they seem to be constantly passing traffic but for a mid-speed car it wasn't a constant assault of faster cars as you would expect.

Once the C1 24 hours at Silverstone was mentioned I swapped the Hyundai feed for their live feed though and kept that going throughout today.

Really sad to see if the Dacia go out. The English commentary were talking about project Jogger though, an idea to whip round and get the team a Dacia Jogger for next year.

What I really enjoyed hearing was how the track Marshalls pitched in money to pay for the fuel for the Dacia team.

The community around that track is why I enjoy the race so much.

If they do get a jogger I hope they do more to increase the performance. The speed delta between the Logan and most of the pack seems a little bit uncomfortable for a track as complex as the ring (fastest lap time I can find for the Logan is 11:49.4, which is about three, three and a half minutes off an average GT3 lap)

A TCe 140 swap wouldn't go amiss :p

EDIT: with all the cars having cameras on them now, I'd like to see the footage of the 911 and the Dacia
