Well, you'd pretty much get every detail you wanted with this bad boy. Crazy.

And imagine someon asks you to post a full res picture... you need some optical pipe or it'll take ages to upload :D

I'll take three of those, thank you. How many kidneys are you charging?

finally exceeds the # of grains of silver-halide on a 35mm piece of Kodak TMax film

this makes my dream of replacing my film camera much closer (my specs to buy a replacement for my Canon EOS A2E and Nikon F3's is a <$2500 20+ MP 24x35mm sensor... mmmm.

Never thought Kodak would be the one to come out with this digital photography masterpiece. I thought they were left in the dust by the Japanese.

Kodak has been doing well with CCD/CMOS chips since 1990 or so. They were the first with a "pro" D-SLR in '91 (i think that is the year) and led the way all through the '90s with the 420, 460, etc. Their US$30,000 4 MP system was THE one to have. (i have the older, $25,000 2 MP system sitting right next to me here- a deal in '96, a museum piece today :?

Anyway, even today Kodak has a canon and nikon mount 14 MP full size D-SLR that, while slightly lower quality than the amazing Canon 1 Ds Mark blah blah blah, is also 1/2 the price. And now that they dropped consumer film, many pro films, pro photo paper, 8mm kodachrome, etc they have even more engineering $$ vested into CMOS technology. (sorry i blab, spent 4 years procuring a photography degree in Kodak's home town in the mid '90s =)
