4th Gen iPods coming soon

iPods suck, sorry.

we're far from 1G iPods.. they're at 4G and batteries last way more than 18 months and thye also have double autonomy with the 4G.

And mini's rock 8)

They cost a small fortune...

Rather go with this:

http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/prod_neuros.asp

Open sourced so you can get different "OS'es", can switch between the large drive and the small flash memory, and a FM radio that you can record off of. Not to mention that if you record part of the song, the program on your computer can go out on the web and tell you what song it is.

It also caches your entire MP3 collection on it so that if you're out and about, want a song that isn't on it, you can mark it to download and it will automatically download the next time you connect it to your computer. Helps you so that you don't forget about transferring that song. :)

that's ugly, not known (hard to get support) and can't be had with a small HD

only thing I like about it is the radio. and when you have Gb's of MP3's I don't think it's necessary..

although the last feature you mention is nice.. I wouldn't buy it only for that reason. And BTW 4G iPods are $100 less than 3G iPods so your first argument doesn't work anymore

eh, i was one of the few that bought one early on (2nd or 3rd gen...forgot) and got mad when the battries stopped working...pissed that i wasted all that money

yeah I understand that. But now they apparently fixed the problem (I hope so)

Yeah... I don't think I'd go for an Ipod anytime soon... probably just because I hate following trends. I was one of the very first owners of the Nomad Jukebox like 4 or 5 ages ago.... Dished out quite a few hundred for it. Should have known to wait... but I couldn't. Anyway, my 2 cents goes into the Nomad Zen Touch. I like how it looks, and I'm an audiophile so I've gotta go with the best quality sounding device.

hahahahahah! that's both the funniest thing i've ever read and the stupidest lol thanks guys!

Heres what I dont understand... why I dont I spend the same money on a PDA so that I can play videos. Like with my PDA, I play TG episodes while on the move. Plus, I can play music, games and I write word documents and emails. I know an I-Pod has a lot of memory... but I dont need 1,000 hours of music for an airline flight or a road trip.

damn u got me convinced, how much exactly can u store on the PDA and how much does it cost and is the sound quality good?

Well, I use SD cards which can vary from 64MB to 1GB per card. I bought 2-256MB cards and 1-128MB and I have all my favorite music on two cards and one 256 card full of videos and TG episode(s). Quality is excellent. Keep in mind though that you are taking (in my case) copied music from your computer and copying it again, so you are going to loose some quality, but nothing that I can notice.

For reference, I bought the Dell Axim X30 (312 mhz processor) with WiFi and Bluetooth. I got it for 279.00 and shipped to my house for less than 300. You can get a 624 mhz processor, but its not necessary and requires more battery power.
