The Focus WRC has never had a YB powerplant the first gen had a Zetec and Ford has been using the Duratec for WRC since 2007. I mean was the YB ever even available in transverse?

I never mentioned WRC cars, but if you take a look at Rallycross group N / A Fiestas, Pumas, Focuses, etc. They all have Yb engines, and no it was never offered as a transverse setup.:)

It uses a different drivetrain layout compared to current Fords. The rallycross cars uses the layout of the old Sierra (Sapphire) and Escort RS Cosworth, with a longitudinal engine and awd.

Don't have any pictures of this one, but it'll look much like this...

To be honest i'm suprised he hasn't gone for the YB. So what if the YB is 20+ years old. That means there is a lot of aftermarket support for the motor. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the Duratec will not be used transversally. ;) (if that is even a word)

EDIT: Has anyone built a 800+hp Duratec before ?

This car is sponsored by Ford Europe and the engine is developed in corporation with Ford Europe team RS.

Granted it takes a nutcase Swede to build a car like that, but it takes a complete maniac of a Finn to drive the damn thing

They'll be running 2 cars! The owner will run the other one!

That is stupidly awesome.

How can you be rich and not do things like that all the time? I wouldn't be doing anything else quite frankly.

Sorta like a modern day Group B rally car.

No it won't. Those are YB Pinto engines, the Fiestas have Duratec's:)

But who drove the monster ?, If it was any Japanese driver, I would be willing to bet a large sum of money, that an 800hp fiesta driven by a FINN will beat it.

It was driven by a Japanese bloke.

But we need Marcus to do this run with his old mate and co-pilot Timo Rautiainen in the passenger's seat. For sure. Except that they have to safeguard his arse against rogue stones...
