You can't go wrong with the Human League or the Thompson Twins. Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" is a classic as well.

Also, change things up a bit with Madness if you like ska. Dexy's Midnight Runners is pleasantly oddball. Spandau Ballet (True, Gold) is pretty good too.
 
Across the pond, try popular songs from Madonna, Prince or Michael Jackson.

ELO - Twilight, best 80s song evar!
Ultravox - Vienna should be played too.

Also try some Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Spandau Ballet or for something a bit heavier Iron Maiden, Metallica and M?tley Cr?e. Also don't forget some Queen!

I wouldn't really call Madness' music ska. I think they started out that way, but pretty quickly changed tack. The Specials are more representative IMO, although Madness might be more representative of the 80s generally.
