80's Playlist

You can't go wrong with the Human League or the Thompson Twins. Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" is a classic as well.

Also, change things up a bit with Madness if you like ska. Dexy's Midnight Runners is pleasantly oddball. Spandau Ballet (True, Gold) is pretty good too.

Across the pond, try popular songs from Madonna, Prince or Michael Jackson.

Duran Duran - Planet Earth is a good'un.
ELO - Twilight, best 80s song evar!
Ultravox - Vienna should be played too.

Also try some Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Spandau Ballet or for something a bit heavier Iron Maiden, Metallica and M?tley Cr?e. Also don't forget some Queen!

While 80ies electro should not to be missed ... no 80ies Playlist is complete without some awsome powerballads.

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You
Van Halen - Why Can't This Be Love
Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
Bon Jovi - living on a prayer
Journey - Don't Stop Believin`
Nena - 99 Luftballons

Wow...you got music advice from Captain 70's. I was fully expecting suggestions of Brian Eno, Steely Dan and Chicago.

To that list I would add "Close My Eyes Forever" by Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne

Apart from the fact that it would be music by the Human League, the Thompson Twins and Soft Cell.

I wouldn't really call Madness' music ska. I think they started out that way, but pretty quickly changed tack. The Specials are more representative IMO, although Madness might be more representative of the 80s generally.

This first one is a must:

Kim Wilde - Keep Me Hanging On
Cameo - Word Up
Robin S - Show Me Love
En Vogue - Free Your Mind
Jon Secada - Just Another Day
Nightcrawlers - Push The Feeling On
Tina Turner - Simply The Best
Irene Cara - What A Feeling
Madonna - Like A Prayer
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer
2-4 Family - Stay
Linear - Sending All My Love
London Beat - I've Been Thinking About You

And for a little harder stuff:
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
Rainbow - I Surrender
Foreigner - Urgent
Poison - Talk Dirty To Me
Dio - Rainbow In The Dark

That should get you off on the right foot.

You can't have the 80s without hair metal. Way better than that New Wave trash.

Runnin' With The Devil - Van Halen
Sweet Child O Mine - Guns N Roses
Livin' On a Prayer - Bon Jovi
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
Round and Round - Ratt
Rock You Like A Hurricane - Scorpions
Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
Welcome To The Jungle - Guns N Roses
Panama - Van Halen
Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
Paradise City - Guns N Roses
Sister Christian - Night Ranger
You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Lick It Up - Kiss
Mr. Brownstone - Guns N Roses
Talk Dirty To Me - Poison
Jump - Van Halen
Cum On Feel The Noize - Quiet Riot
Every Rose Has It's Thorn - Poison

anyone else thinks the 80s where musicwise the weakest period since WWII?

No.
