This is only two seconds slower than the much more powerful 991 GT2 RS first did with development driver Lars Kern at the wheel.
Porsche has made another track special 911, the GT3 R rennsport. This comes with an “uncorked” version of their 4,2l flat 6 from the GT3 R and RSR race cars running without restrictors, resulting in 611 hp. It also features very aggressive aerodynamics.

Remember all that fuzz that was made about the AMG One having an F1 engine and all that. This old 911 also has that. The engine in that particular example was used by Niki Lauda in the 1985 French GP. (He retired that race with a gearbox problem) The engine has obviously been retuned to not be so highly strung, it's only running at 3 bar of boost and redlines at 9K rpm, the race engine would do up to 4,5 bar and 11,5K rpm. They have mated it to a 6-speed gearbox out of a 993. It's also self starting and has had some other features added to make it work in traffic etc.
