I downloaded a torrent of this game GTR which isnt available in the US yet but I can't get it to work, its installed and everything but It wants a cd in the drive for it to run. I tried burning the game's first cd onto a disk but to no avail. SOOOOOO, I decided to try it's NO CD instructions...
No-CD method:
In order to play without swapping the original CD-Rom all the time you need to do the following...

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools installed.
2. Install GTR.
3. Shut down your computer and disconnect all your cd/dvd drives.
4. Start up your computer.
5. Open your Computer Management then go to> Device Manager> System Devices.
If you have Alcohol installed you should see "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" and if you have Daemon Tools you should see "PnP BIOS Extension". If you have both installed you have to do the following for both.
6. Right click "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" or "PnP BIOS Extension" and go to Properties.
7. On the Details tab you can select "Device Instance ID". Looks like ROOT\SYSTEM\0003. Remember or write down the last numbers.
8. Now you go to> Start> Run> Now you type: regedit
WARNING! You are now about to edit the registry. Errors in the registry can cause errors in your system. If you do exactly what's described here it won't go wrong. You are responsible for your own actions. 9. On the left side you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\R oot\SYSTEM
10. Under the system folder you see the number(s) as you found in step 7.
11. Right click the number(s) and select "Permissions"
12. Click on the System group and set "Read" to "Deny"
13. Close regedit
14. Mount the .mds from this package
15. Start the game and use this serial: F84GX-WK9MB-VDBG3-S9VSH-Q6D3N
NOTE: This serial will only work with the .mds included.
16. Start the game and enjoy!
When you update Alcohol or Daemon you need to follow these steps again.

I did all these things, with great difficulty, I had trouble finding the device instance id as described in step 6 or 7. but I think i got it. then I couldnt figure out how to mount a .mds Step 14 so thats as far as I got! Help me please!!!!!
 
why not go to gamescopyworld or gamecopyworld.com and get a no cd crack :p

hehehe looks like i aint the worse at computers now woot!
 
Open you case, then disconnect all your cd drives, i mean every cable out of them.

Then start the computer, mount the image. Then play.



Or just go out and buy the game.
 
kip doesnt it work when u get a no cd crack/patch from game copy world. thats how my sister places sims2 uni
 
WTF! what should I do What the hell does mount the image mean. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! :wall:
 
Oh, wait, I think I've got it! Mount the image in Daemon!
 
jasonchiu, starforce is a bit more complicated than that. You can download cd mini-image from gamecopyworld, mount it, and use starforce nightmare to virtually disconnect drives. Or disconnect drives physically. Anyway, nothing guarantees it's gonna work. Because nothing worked in my case (win2k, not xp), so I gave up.
 
Well, time to go play GT4!

I had to disconnect them manualy on my machine, star fuck and the other starforce disableing programs caused my system to crash.
 
Yeah, I manually disconnected my drives too. But now it's working, thanks jasonchiu going to the game d/l world site helped me. :thumbsup:

You guys should start betting on wether I get the game open or not! :lol:
 
I got it to work a couple weeks ago, but I don't want to have to disconnect my CD burner every time...the game aint worth it.
 
you guys should try StarForce Nightmare...

- download it somewhere
- run it and press "disable node" and then "disable secondary master" (that is, offcourse if your cd/dvd rom drive is connected as secondary master). You should do that for all your cd/dvd rom drives. You can also try pressing "disable CD" but in case SFN detects it wronly it disables you HD and your PC crashes.
- Use Alcohol 120% and make sure in the options "RMPS" (Removable Media Physical Signature or something similar) is emulated. By default it is not.
- mount the mini-image
- Run GTR
- Play.

this even works with the 1.4 patch.
 
dude, why not just get a no cd crack or any crack and play the game using the burnt CD...thats what i do..always works..
 
It simply doesn't with Starforce. Period.
Current games having it are Splinter Cell 3, GTR and Trackmania Sunrise...

For those games it took really long to copy and run them. You need a mini image, and you need to disable your drives... As stated above.
There is already a thread about that anyway...
