Okay, me and unknownspeedster finally got of our asses, so we've decided to do this.

The Route (starting point is my area just incase you were wondering)

We're thinking we'll probably meet up at Glenelg and move on from there. We're both... almost definitely going, providing we're both not suffering from hangovers in the morning!

Be awesome to have some additions along. (Looking at you Red_Bull!)

Time is now 12PM

cheers for posting this up the, meeting time will be 11am at the car park on the opposite side of the Glenelg foreshore complex as displayed on the map

good on you guys, have fun!!

Looks like a good run - unfortunately I can't make it but you are ending up fairly close to where I live :)

I haven't taken the car out for a good run in aaaaaages! (Probably because I should change the brake pads first!)

Maybe next time :)

I'm back now.

Curse thy alcohol!

EDIT: It's 12PM now.

After almost completely pussing out, we all did it. Quite an eventful drive, filled with a weird German town and a disappointing lack of free samples from the chocolate factory!

Few shitty pics to prove to you Melbourne..ians that we actually did it. (Too lazy to make them look better, shitty camera so nyeh)

The starting point

Have to do it another time guys!

Yeah it was good. I'm pretty sunburnt on my neck and arms from standing around at the end of Gorge road where that woman in the Kia was yelling at the guy in the Merc behind her. That was hilarious.

Hahndorf was the weird Germantown James is referring to, with a disappointing lack of food of any real substance (that was within our budget as tight uni students of course). Ended up getting a very un-German pastie from a local deli (served by very fine girl, which was my main motivation in getting the pastie. I could see what was on offer, but it was worth asking just for her to bend over and examine the pie warmer...), umm...unknownspeedster got a pie, and Dsemaj got a bag of chips from the local IGA. We're not brilliant at the whole culture thing I guess!

Certainly something to do again in the future, hopefully I might've found a better paying job by then and might have something half decent for a car.

Aye Red_Bull, I think you did pretty well in the VS. Stuck to the back of unknownspeedster like freaking glue on Gorge Road!

And yes, I must admit to Captain Slow. I was sticking to you guys until Gorge Road, which became a mixed fear of "I don't want to loose my license if a cop is here" and "I don't want to find out why this road is really called Gorge Road.." Next time we're planing ahead to make sure we can get shitty McDonalds or something!

But nice to meet you all! We must get more people next time.

Yeah, it was pretty freaky and if I'm honest I'm glad the road ended when it did. There were a couple of moments where I thought 'this could end badly' and that I might get to the bottom of the mountain a bit quicker than anticipated :p

Bah how did I miss this?

Looks like you guys had a great day and maybe it was a good thing I didn't go.
With no air conditioning in my car and on such a warm day like Saturday I think i would have died in my car...

Anyways hope to join you guys next time. :D

Well it was at pretty short notice! :p

I might set up another thread for discussion for next time.

Love the plates on the Mini :D

And James, it doesn't matter if you were taking it a bit slow. I'm sure you looked uber freakin cool in your Bimmer complete with its sunroof. Love that car mate!!

This seems like a lot of fun. My friends don't really understand how I can often enjoy driving to a place more than actually being at the place.

my wife is bemused how I can joyfully head out the drive way for a 300 - 400 km drive out through the hills and loop all the way around Adelaide to end up back where I started. It is just lunacy as far as she is concerned, me I love it.
