Recently (almost a year now), the South Australian Government, with enormous financial backing from the Australian Federal Government completed building a new terminal in Adelaide.

It was a long awaited face lift for Adelaide which has been restricted by an old terminal that looked tired and under maintained. The newly built, $260 million dollar terminal is supposed to put Adelaide on the map. What do you guys think? Can Adelaide be put on the map of world airports?

Here are some pics...

Adelaide is allready on the map... what the aussies need to do is put their capital city on the map... allmost nobody knows what the capital city of Australia is. ^_^

konradiusz I happen to know what the capita is :D so you failed if you tried to trick me :) it isn't Sydney. :p

Now everyone that thought it was Sydney are stunned and rushing for Gooooooooooooooooogle. ^_^

I don't think that's going to put Adelaide on the map. You guys are competing with airports that look like this:

Yes, Adelaide is nice, but still very small and simple. I have been in much bigger, nicer, more well equiped and impressive airports in the world.

Heathrow, although crazy huge, has great facilities.

KL airport I enjoyed....except for the hole in the ground toilets.

An airport in Switzerland, I can't remember what the city was, was really great. All pretty and clean and it looked straight out onto the Alps.

I've recently been to Adelaide airport... it isn't the best in the world or one of the best, but its great compared to Melbourne's airport.

Speaking of Airport, I frequently travel to 3 very very good Airports, Kuala Lumpur International, Hong Kong International and Singapore Changi... all of these airports are one of the best in the world IMO (in Asia as my european (Heathrow, Paris and Stockholm) and american has been very limited to only LAX, LAS.

Japan to the World: All your Airports are belong to us.

Having run out of space they constructed an island upon which to build their new airport. Take that LAX!

I cringe to think about what'll happen at the first light earth quake, or Godzilla fart as I like to call it. Those artificial islands don't hold up well to seismic prods, as the 1995 Kobe earthquake proved.

IMO PuDong (Shanghai) has been the most impressive to me so far, but I desparately want to see HK International and Kansai International to compare.

I like heathrow for some reason. I just was never that impressed by O'hare or SFO or CDG. It's much bigger, and even though it's overcrowded, it's better than having nothing to do.

I like Orlando Int'l because you get to ride the monorail to the main terminal.:D

Gatwick is neat too, and its nothing short of amazing what they do with just the one runway.

I wouldn't want to see Adelaide as a major airport in the world. I just wanted to see how it compares to other airports the same size. (Adelaide has 1 Million people).
If you saw what we had before, this is a major redevelopment.

Heh, you don't stand a chance. Even our crappy airport is cooler. :p

I personally like the design of Washington Dulles...

The airport itself isn't that great, but the main terminal building and tower are pretty cool looking.
