Interesting episode. The family with the two young kids looks strong. The siblings seem to be too cocky.

Other than that I can't determine who it will be although the Italians might be in trouble if they continue fighting. Anyways what do you guys think??

I wish I could download it here as well.. but I am on limited bandwidth of 2gb a month.... but with so many people, it would be impossible to remember all the peoples names

I'm not liking this - I was worried when the Family Edition was announced, and now I've seen the first ep, it's not looking good. The kids are just going to bug me ("Mommy Mommy go faster" :yucky:), the team of screaming females has me wanting to throw the remote control at the tv, and the worst thing of all - they're not leaving America (well, they might go down into Mexico perhaps). It's more like MTV's Road Rules than The Amazing Race.

No sir, I don't like it. Don't mess with a successful formula I say.

I'll still watch it, and it will still be better than pretty much everything else on TV, but all I can say is bring on series 9 with a return to the traditional format that makes the show so great.

Damn 2gb a month?!?

I'm struggling to keep under my 4gig up/down per week (with free weekends).

I haven't checked out the show yet - I think the family thing might be gay.

They'll leave America... (They better or the show will completely not be worth it) I think it has some potential, personally I'm rooting for the Italians. We'll see how things go in the second episode.

Check out the route map:

Compare that to the one for series 7:

Now they're either being extremely secrective about the route (previous series still showed the entire world right from ep 1, but obviously without the destinations) , or the teams aren't leaving North America (certainly no Europe, Africa, or Asia legs).

My guess is the producers knew the overseas legs would be too hard on the kids, what with the jet leg and airport delays etc.

And if they were going to leave America, why would they have the first leg cover something like 150miles?? And have a state for a Pitstop? I hope I'm wrong and they do go overseas, but I don't think it's going to happen - and if that's the case it takes away one of the major attractions of the show.

The word is that they're not leaving North America, and they're finishing in Canada (I forget where) - pretty gay.

True - Not leaving North America + Family teams =

It's just a momentary lapse though - Series 9 is back to the normal format that makes the show so great. Filming for that kicks off in November, so hopefully we won't have too long to wait between Series 8 finishing and Series 9 kicking off. I'll be interested to see how Series 8 goes in the ratings.

Reality TV sucks..........

^ Thanks for that, good contribution. If you don't like reality TV don't click on the thread, not that hard is it?

I guess this will have to do then until Series 9. That sucks. I thought it was the same format until I saw the link. Damn. Oh well. It will have to do for now. Maybe they will make it somewhat exciting.

I'm sure we'll see families disintegrating as the race goes on, so that's some amusement to look forward to - and one of the teams with kids is gone now so that helps. Just need that family of screaming females to go next.

Yeah the sisters...they are really annoying.

wtf?... the amazing race isn't leaving North America, I've totally lost interest in the show. I liked watching this show because I could see the different parts of the world, not families fighting

Ok seriously...free gas for life...I want that...

But yeah, it looks like they are staying in North America but it still is not bad. At least I get to watch something more of quality than the rest of the crap on TV.

^ Tell me about it - that prize is awesome

That episode wasn't too bad - still not great, but for some reason I found it far more entertaining than the first two. Maybe it's because teams are starting to snipe at each other.

Yeah. Getting kinda interesting. I'd prefer an International flavour but this will do for now.

Gas for life. Man I'd be buying my Camaro already...
