Wow, you're a good dreamer dude. You want to keep your money for yourself, be a rich man, take your own decisions, yet when facing this situation you think the right answer is to suck USA just cause we're dependant? wow.. what a lazy solution.
umm.. like it or not our economy is entirely dependant on the US. I didn't make it this way.. neither did you.. and YES. i want to keep MY MONEY.. i would very much like to be rich.. and make decisions about how to run my life without government interference.

at the current time canada cannot support it's population AND at the same time, remove ties to the US..

Look what happened in quebec when GM closed it's st. therese plant. What will happen to Quebec when the US decides it doesn't want to buy electricity from you. or softwood lumber.. or american tourists get sick of the anti-americanism and just stay home and stop going to le Carnival or just for laughs festival.

i'm not the dreamer here.. i'm the realist

bravo

I don't like the liberal govt either, but firstly, conservatives are worse, atleast from my POV, and secondly do you REALLY think that it won't be the same shit all over again in a few years but with different people? power makes them all alike...
explain to me how the conservatives could POSSIBLY be worse.

you woudln't understand, you're ontarian. From your POV they might be better.

BTW I'm perfectly aware of our economy, heck I've got one class only talking about that

the cdn dollar is very high so they're already buying less and not very interested in coming here, so don't freak out.

And as for the electricity, it would be great, that way we woudln't need to plan expensive expansion projects since we need more electricity

and the softwood lumber! what a joke, I guess you know what happend and how the federal govt "reacted/helped"

then tell me why a country can't be a solcialist democraty like canada
Well it can, obviously, I just don't want to live in one.

which is pretty well balanced IMO
Balance is a personal preference I guess, 50+% in tax sounds horribly out of whack to me.
50% is the max, and if you're making enough money to be taxed that high you have fiscal evasions, and stuff you can do to save taxes.

yeah it's high but I'd rather have public systems always there for you when you need them than a "chacun pour soi" everyone for themselves theme, where you're fucked if something goes wrong, need to get debts to go to school or have a surgery..

one piece of advice, keeping money doesnt make you rich but im sure you'd be able to get that RX-8 ALOT faster up there than here in the US, eh ren?

I for example am for making pot legal & increasing environmental restrictions, but I'm also against high taxes.
We should make pot legal...and regulate it just like alcohol and tobacco...and tax the living shit out of it...which is what Canadian governments know how to do best.

And who cares what the Americans think.
Exactly.

Plus the Canadian economy would receive a major boost when Americans start flying to Toronto for the weekend.

wheatking has basically summed up why i dont like socialist govt that "tries" to take care of its ppl.

one note, though canadians might have health care, it is sub-par compared to the US.

ask any canadian the last time he reiceved his yearly physical.

hanasad, please put it in english. :|

more anti-americanism, how wonderful. i guess he said it cause the truth of canadas socialist govt hurt his argument about "caring for the poor" and paying higher taxes n shit.

oh well, i wish him well in his number one ranked country.
