I realise it's been a while since I was on here, so thought I'd throw up some of the more recent pics of her. I STILL have lots of parts I either haven't got round to fitting yet (such as the brakes), or don't really want to fit (such as a TD04). Plans for this car are temporarily on hold until I've been to test drive the new Camaro SS. I won't be getting rid of the Mazda, it'll just be promoted to full-time track duty. Eventually, the plan is for an ITB'd 13B rotary from the FC EGi RX7 with some minor porting work, and the exterior is to be wrapped in urban camouflage vinyl, as I'll be entering the RAF Sprint series and need the car to stand out. Anyway, spec-wise...

All parts were bought/fitted by me.

Engine
SS Autochrome 4-2-1 manifold (heat-wrapped)
370mm silenced de-cat
Apex'i exhaust (w/ internal backbox)
Timing advanced to 14deg BETD
K&N drop-in filter

Chassis
Spax RSX fully adjustable coilovers (as used on the Max5 championship race cars )
Front/rear tower braces
Under-chassis brace
Carbing 4-pt roll cage w/ harness bar
270mm Rotors/caliper brackets from 1.8L (still to fit, spec will also include Super blue racing brake fluid, Goodridge braided lines and Axxis Ultimate Pads)

Wheels/Tyres
Sportmaxx 002 15x8J ET0 wheels
195/50 Toyo Proxes T1-R
Custom-developed camber/castor/toe settings (currently -1.7deg camber, 1/16 toe out front, 1/32 toe in rear)

Interior
BRIDE side-mount fixed-back bucket seat
Sabelt Clubman 4pt harness
RS shift-light
Mountney 340mm suede steering wheel
Pit Crew Racing carbon fibre instrument cowl, centre console & gear knob.

Exterior
Garage Vary front air-dam
Carbing steel tow hook
OEM hardtop
Eunos rear panel

And getting rid of some of this stuff:
All sound proofing, the soft-top (and frame), the spare wheel, some un-necessary parts (charcoal canister etc) and lots of heavy heat-shielding.

Thanks guys. I'd prefer to stay NA as I think a blower would ruin the driving style which I've become accustomed to. It's off my brothers WRX anyway so I need a custom flange making up for the GReddy manifold.

OH MY GOD

That's the nicest miata i've seen in a while. Really tastefully modded, i especially love the wide wheels.

Hmm...I fail to see the "girl's car" under all the awesome.

:cool::mrgreen::wub:

Thanks guys. :)

I'm not sure what turbo my brother went with in the end. This one needed the shaft re-balancing so he stripped it off and left his WRX in the garage while he decided what he was going to buy. This is going back about 4 months, and I haven't seen him since...I really should call him sometime soon, lol.

Fuck yeah, looks like fun. My bud used to run those wheels on his Miata. They looked extra Mexican-spec on his, but they look about right on yours.

SS Autochrome header?

Aside from that, great build and niceee Miata!

SS-Autochrome are licensed under 'Jasma' exhausts, they also produce Apex'i branded kit. I can't really complain, the torque curve my engine produced was pretty much purely down to that, and it was not only the highest powered N/A 1.6L car there, the torque curve was better than most of the 1.8Ls there too. Even the RS*R and Mazdaspeed manifolds weren't producing as good results by comparison. Being 'JDM tyte' will only get you so far in racing.

I wasn't gonna mention it, but since you did... +1 to this...?

I told you bro...Just 'cause it is cheap doesn't ALWAYS mean it is rubbish. SSAutochrome has some decent stuff on the market for good money and then they have some shit out there.

I wouldn't put a SSA part on my vehicle if it was free, and they sponsored all my other mods.

Well, that's good and all, but when a part performs better than 'branded kit' (they don't come much more 'branded' in Japanese circles than RS*R and Mazdaspeed), I don't really see the complaint (and I do have dyno printouts to prove this btw). In fairness, the SSA part wasn't much cheaper than the alternatives either, and it's survived 2 and a half years of near constant track abuse without a single problem. Plus as I say, a lot of the kit Apex'i produce (such as my mid-section/backbox) are actually re-branded SSA stuff licensed under Jasma. I'm sure you know Apex'i are also a massive company in Japanese tuning circles. Needless to say, I'd buy another in a heartbeat if this one cracked now.

What's so bad about SSA parts ?

Nothing really, they get a bad rep because they're considered ''cheap''. And when I say a ''bad rep'', I mean almost solely on here. :D

I don't necessarily worry about the performance, it's about the quality. Metal quality needs to be exceptionally good and it needs to be designed by someone who understands the application and where the product will be stressed. That being said I have no experience with the header so I can't really judge, I'm just curious why it hasn't caught on within the Mazda community as well as why other tuners have not adopted the more powerful design?

Either way and it's an awesome car, pretty stupid to get hung up on a header. GLad to see the hood thingie gone though.

Actually, it has been used by others. If you're ever on MX5Nutz, it's one of the more sought after manifolds, and one which is held in quite high regard. The problem is most people go straight for FI when tuning MX5s, so a 4-2-1 manifold isn't beneficial.
