Anthony Bourdain

No more Bourdain after this? :(

Also, while it is the final season of No Reservations, he just completed filming the next season of The Layover. So you have that to look forward to as well (especially because he finally came to my city :) ).

So I just got back from Singapore/Ho Chi Minh City, also ate at the Lunch Lady. Will post pics if people are interested.

Don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't seen it yet, but Austin ep was first and really well done. It was filmed during SXSW, so a good combination of food and music porn. Franklin vs Mueller bbq, lots of tacos, and the hipsters didn't come off as too duchey. The Final tour starts strong, next week Sydney...

I'm a total whore for travel pics, so please.
I always rate an Ep on how much it makes me want to go to a place I didn't really consider before.
Austin is now on my list, so yep, good start to the season.

I got to meet Tony when he came for a talk in my town. I got him to sign my copy of Kitchen Confidential. He was a pretty nice and cool guy even though I was one of the last of a long line of people waiting to get their picture taken with him. We chatted about local beer for a bit before I had to let the next person in line go.

Great to hear he was a good guy!

Someone let me borrow their copy of Kitchen Confidential, since reading that I just purchased The Nasty Bits and Medium Raw. I can't wait to read them.

Felt like the other way round for me. Chicago just felt like a drinking show while Paris made me want to go there even more.

Its interesting to rate your own reactions to show based around a place you've been before.
I've done Paris, the show really didn't inspire any book a plane ticket reactions. Where as the Singapore show (just to use one example) made me really miss the place. I'm still not sure if that is a reflection of the episodes, or my feelings to the places in question.
I usually enjoy all the shows when he goes to a place I haven't visited before, so the Chicago one fell into that category.

The thing about Layovers in either Paris or Chicago is that the airports are too far from the city for any real sort of activity. I also don't view three days as a layover.

Parts Unknown will premiere the 14th of April and the locations they went to are Myanmar, Libya, Colombia, the Quebecois side of Canada, Koreatown in Los Angeles, Tangier, Peru and the Congo.

A bit 'meh' feeling in terms of all the non-foodie-sounding locations. I know the Canadian episode will be good. He got the Joe Beef guys to join.

Koreatown again? He's made so many episodes there lately. Kinda bored with it. Go somewhere else.

I really hope CNN arn't forcing them to become more about travelling and less about food. One can only hope that only the first season will be like this.

It really doesn't look all that different than No Reservations. Even the promo for it looks like it could have been aired on Travel Channel. I really wish he could have gone to a channel like HBO where he could do, say, and show whatever he wanted. That seems like it would fit him perfectly.

Whatever it ends up being, it"ll just be good to have Bourdain back on TV.

It's a bit sad that The Layover didn't last for very long, but it'll be good to see him back on TV. About 2 weeks left now untill the first episode. :)
