  • ?Jerusalem?(Sept 15) ? In the season premiere of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, the host and crew make their first trip to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. While the political situation is often tense between the people living in these areas, Bourdain concentrates on their rich history, food and culture, and spends time with local chefs, home cooks, writers and amateur foodies.

  • ?Spain? (Sept. 22) ? Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown explores Andaluc?a during Semana Santa (Holy Week, leading up to Easter), a time filled with great pageantry and excitement. Featured in this episode is Bourdain?s longtime Director of Photography Zach Zamboni, who lives part-time in Granada and shows the host sights off the beaten path.

  • ?New Mexico? (Sept. 29)- Parts Unknown takes a close look at the mash-up of cultures that comprise this uniquely American state by sampling its food ? a combination of Spanish, Mediterranean, Mexican, Pueblo and even chuck-wagon influences. New Mexico is also a land of drugs, guns, monster vehicles, and possibly extraterrestrials. It may also be the perfect place to investigate the underside of the Western cowboy ideal.

  • ?Copenhagen? Denmark (airdate TBA) - This episode explores the food and natural beauty of Copenhagen, the economic and cultural center of Denmark. Home to famed chef Rene Redzepi and his brainchild Noma ? regarded by critics as one of the world?s best restaurants ? Parts Unknown delves into the city?s cuisine and the new Nordic creativity that infuses Redzepi?s work at Noma.

  • Sicily (airdate TBA) ? Parts Unknown explores the Sicilian way of life, which puts a premium on savoring family, life, and food. Bourdain travels in search of those foods as he eats his way around the island. He makes his home base at the Villa Monaci, on the outskirts of Catania with his enthusiastic, fast-talking sidekicks who counter the otherwise relaxed tempo and epic ?food porn? of this episode.

  • Detroit (airdate TBA) - Few cities have experienced such a dramatic economic rise and fall of Detroit. In this episode of Parts Unknown, Bourdain explores the past, present and future of the Motor City. He steps into the lives of Detroit natives and sees the glory days of the past at the famed Packard Plant, the current state of the city?s urban decay, and the promise of the future in the citizens who are rebuilding their communities.

  • Tokyo (airdate TBA) - Japan is a paradox. The low birthrate, the dedication, the conformity, and the life of a salary man are well known. There is also a competitive and rigid culture that gives way to some unique subcultures. Bourdain has traveled to Tokyo countless times, but on this trip he is in search of the city?s dark, extreme, and bizarrely fetishistic underside.

  • South Africa (airdate TBA) - Once considered the most dangerous city in the world, Johannesburg now barely makes the top 50. But the end of the apartheid has led to vast changes in the city. In this episode, Bourdain visits the suburb of Hillbrow (which remains a dangerous locale), spends a day in the life of a taxi driver and discovers the culture and food that make up modern day Johannesburg.

That's a MUCH better location list than the first season. I'm hoping it will be more like No Reservations this coming season.
 
A new season of The Mind of a Chef has just started, should anyone be interested. It might very well be my personal favourite food show.

Seems like a bit of a fuss... I haven't seen the episode, but "hormel chili and day glow cheese" sounds more descriptive than rolling out a list of ingredients and adds in a feeling of the density, texture, and viscosity. As for geographic origin... Now that I know it's originated in NM instead of TX, the dish is completely changed!
 
All 3 episodes this season so far has left me feeling kinda cold. Not wildly interesting. I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode in Copenhagen tho. Lots of Noma content. :)
 
I thought Jerusalem and Granada were both fun to watch and the food looked fantastic. New Mexico was such a disappointment because we go there frequently and even saw them filming in Albuquerque, scenes which must have been cut. To me it was so much like the Congo episode; AB had a narrative in mind and used the episode to fulfill his childhood fantasy. Neither worked for me.

Copenhagen was excellent in so many ways, but I'm sorry to say the food at Noma left me feeling meh. He was right to say, repeatedly, you just can't believe how good it actually tastes because watching, I really wasn't sure I'd want to eat any of it. *hangs head in shame*
 
Totally amazing episode. They picked up on something which I never thought much about. All the talking about Janteloven is true. It's the same in Norway, except that we don't have someone like Ren?.

This episode made Denmark look like The Wicker Man (both the Bee and Non-Bee versions). One of the few times an ep has actually made me want to go somewhere less.
I can appreciate the craft behind the food, but honestly it really just isn't my thing.
 
The Sicily episode felt halfbaked to me. The fucked up fishing scene in the beginning kinda set the tone for me and it didn't really recover much, aside from the market and cooking scene with a guy and his mother.

Looks like this season might also just give me 1 personal favourite among a rest which doesn't do anything to me -- my clear favourite in season 1 was Montreal.
 
Yeah Sicily started off wrong but it did get better toward the end. It's like flying to Oahu. Some one leis you (but not in the good way) and you get bussed to Waikiki thinking WTF. Then you hire a cool bike or car and cross the Pali. Suddenly things aren't so bad. Hit the North Shore for some waves and Korean BBQ, dakine brah. OTOH, watch Granada again and think about how much good food and drink was enjoyed. I'm up for that.

Agree totally on Montreal although I was not bored by Koreatown, nom nom nom.
 
Tokyo - I would eat anything Naomichi Yasuda wanted to make for me. The food l looked fantastic throughout. All the fetish and manga stuff holds no interest for me but Bourdain was all over it. I'd call it a strong episode overall. What will he make of Detroit?
