I've just played it for 30 minutes, and I've only played a few Rally School lessons, but OMG it's fantastic, I'm in love with it  .

"Aquiring" it now to try it out.

I'm addicted to 18 Wheels Of Steel: Pedal To The Metal at the moment. That and Sims 2 naturally :D
I am so hopelessly addicted to the Sims 2 right now! It's really quite pathetic. The fact that I'm even posting on this forum means I'm in one of the short lapses between Sims 2 sessions.

I really hope my fascination with the game wears off soon because it isn't helping my studying at all. :?

Damn you Sims 2, damn you!

 You guys actually play The Sims? My sisters play it, but I'm too impatient for those kinda games.

^ Ya, I know, I play the Sims. ... But seriously, it is a really fun game. I mostly play it just to build elaborate houses, but the gameplay has sucked me in with this new one. Things are way more complex, and you can create some pretty hilarious situations. So far I have a super rich old senior citizen dude who is banging a young lesbian, a family of manic-depressive proto-Goth-Punks who laze around a run down house listening to really loud metal music all day, a dirt-poor couple who can't even afford to buy toys for their young starving kid, and I'm in the process of creating a trailer park inhabited by the Trailer Park Boys, who make a living by comitting crimes and growing weed (if you haven't seen this show, it's Canadian, and it's the best show ever).

And yes, you can make your sims have sex, and you can make them grow weed.

Meh, RBR sucks. It's probably more realistic than CMR04/05, but I find CMR way more fun. It's like driving on ice all of the time in RBR and the graphics sucks.

Just my opinion, but I find the graphics better than CMR, especially the replays are gorgeous.
I can't possibly see how it can described it as "graphics sucks" .

As for the handling, yes it's realistic (finally a game that is).
Just give it some time to get used to it, it's rewarding in the end.
I especially like that you can do tricks like brake slighly while also using throttle around a corner to give it some oversteer (I use this a lot).
Also the car reacts to bumps and potholes in the road, much more so than CMR where all of it just seems a bit too smooth :? .

BTW, don't just start off on a rally when you start with this game, go through the rally school and really try to learn all of it.
It also might help to pick a less powerful car when you do start racing rallies.
What really helps I think is to imagine that it isn't a game, but you're driving in real life, that way you won't go gung ho through everything.
I completed the UK and Japan rally today (2nd day of playing the game) and got 5 points out of it in professional mode, so yes it's hard  .
I did set three fastest stage times though, so I just need to make less mistakes.

I think anyone who's a hard-core rally sim gamer will love this.
The more arcade-ish oriented people will probably not, nothing wrong with that.
Personally, if I'm in an arcade-ish mode, I'll play CMR2.

I have played CMR2, CMR3 and the CMR5 demo, and the only one I really like out of that bunch is CMR2.
I'm still "aquiring" CMR4, and I'll see if it's any better.
Doubtful since the CMR5 demo didn't seem much if anything better than CMR3 to me.

Well I have CMR 2k5 demo and RBR but both don't work so I bought a new 3d card which should be here in 3-4 days.

Nice! :)
But is it me or is this vid really "stuttering"/has a low fps rate or something? (it does even when I use VLC so I guess it's not me...)

PS: I knew you'd use that car!

The game keeps just exiting to desktop all of a sudden on me. :?

And you really need a variable throttle for this game. Keyboard just doesn't cut it IMO.

VLC isn't much proof of anything in my opinion.
Either your computer doesn't have enough horsepower (which I doubt), or there is something wrong with your codecs.
The video is encoded using Xvid, and I had the "stuttering" problem with one Xvid video at one point in time.
I had both the DivX and Xvid codecs on my computer at the time.
After I uninstalled the DivX codec, it played perfectly.
Xvid seems to play DivX videos just fine too, so I haven't reinstalled DivX since.

And, of course I use that car  .

Have you tried loading the 1.01 patch?
The game has never crashed on me.
As for the keyboard, I still can't understand how people can play driving games with a keyboard, or how that can be any fun at all.
Having said that, there are people that can drive them really fast using a keyboard, including this game.

I use a Logitech Formula Force wheel (the original), and I'm thinking about getting a Momo (also the original).
