We still do some things the old-fashioned way! In this photo from an outdoor meeting in Lawrence County, Ohio (7 Oct 2017), a member scoops bean-and-bacon soup from a cast iron kettle over an open wood fire:


Proper etiquette dictates that you crumble your cornbread in the bowl then add soup and top with chopped onions!!

Raised in Oklahoma with a grandma from Arkansas, this is absolutely the correct way to have beans.

BTW, she also made a mean chocolate gravy.
