Apple may turn to carbon fiber for lighter MacBook Air

Lightness is good... but so is a DVD drive. And multiple USB ports. Two things I would not buy a laptop without, regardless of the multi-thousand dollar price tag.

The USB thing is pathetic, but you'd be surprised how easily you can get by without a DVD drive.

I missed having an optical drive for about 30 seconds when I got the Eee PC. You can pick up a 4 or 8GB flash drive for cheap these days, and it will be faster than reading or writing from a DVD.

You can't burn CDs, that's the only thing. But who burns discs on the go? Unless that's your only computer.
