Are the Car Vs other transport races genuine?

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but just wanted to know your opinions.

I re-watched the DB9 vs Train episode not so long ago, and noticed the same thing with the ones ever since. You'd think with it being a race they wouldn't have time to do extra camera angles and various different shots of the various bits of transport going along. But in the DB9 vs Train especially, they seemed to have as much variety in camera angles, shots etc than they do in any normal Top Gear report.

Surely if they were recording it "as live" they wouldn't have the time to do all this. I know they can record extra scenery bits later on to go into the edit, but there are extra camera angles and shots involving the cars, trains etc whilst in the race which if they recorded it live they surely wouldn't of had time to do.

What do we think? Do we care?

I don't think Jeremy's not allowed to go over the speed limit or whatever?

They do some of the shooting on the way back, as in the race to oslo, you se Jeremy crossing the bridge from fyn to sj?lland at night, then he sleps and in the morning there are shots of that same bridge mixed up with shots of the bridge to sweden.

i'm sure that ALL of the shots they take are on the way back because there is a cameraman in the car with jeremy but you never see him in the shots outside the car and i doubt they stop for him to get out to film the car.
and i think the first two challenges weren't set up and the last two were set-up.

I was sceptical, especially with the Veyron vs Cessna race. But I have been told that they are 100% genuine.

There's no cameraman, it's just a camera rigged to the dash or windshield that Jeremy talks to as he goes along. (hence how the camera never moves)

As long as you're entertained by it, does it really matter whether or not it's fake? 8)

There is no camera man or sound recordist in the car, ex. the shots in Verbier when JC stopped when he saw the boys, you can see that ther's no one in the car, appart from Jeremy.
The outside footage as was sayed is shoted on the way back, but I still think the race is genuine, as they runing or speeding with a text like ex. "Just 1 mile to end!, AAA!!!"

It's real.. Why even doubt it? What makes you think its fake? All the camera angles, eh?

Those cameras are small. They can fit them everywhere. As far as the weird outside angles, they have helicopters no doubt, as well as other cars. They know the exact routes, so they can easily plan ahead incase they want a drive-by shot. They just get there before Jeremy and they can do it.

I'm sure they do some math and make challenges that in theory should come out dead even, then they just let the human aspect takeover and film it.

And I'm positive they go over the speedlimit. How are you going to test a Veyron at any speed under 60? Even stabbing the gas at 20mph would only give you 3 seconds of room before you're over the speedlimit. You HAVE to go over.

They should be real because, if I remember correctly, the SLR race was written about in a newspaper or something before it even came out on the show, so just after filming it I guess. I remember that specifically because it was a true spoiler that I should have never read. So it it's published in the newspaper with a photo of clarkson next to the car right at the destination, it has to be real, the BBC just can't lie to the world press, and I'm sure the presenters can't either, after all, they are "journalists".
So even though the show might be scripted and some of the races might be arranged so that there is a certain outcome that the BBC wants to see, they are real, some of the footage is more than likely not filmed during the race, such as outside angles, but then again, you don't need a cameraman for most of the in-car footage, watch it closely and you'll see that when they show Clarkson driving along, it's predominantly from a fixed angle ( the angle is the same for at least 90% of the time) which IMO suggests a fixed camera set on the dashboard so that it shows that certain angle every time.
As for some (not most) outside footage, it is actually shot while the race is in motion, they have a Range Rover chase-car which follows the car driven by Clarkson or sometimes moves in front of it to get the front angles. This is evident in the Monte Carlo race (or was it another one ?) when Clarkson and the boys meet on the road to the finish by coincidence and Clarkson actually tail-slams the Range Rover chase-car. And some time in the show, when they were talking about range rovers or something they actually showed the Range Rover and said they have used it for their cross-europe races.

So yeah, the footage shown might not be exactly all from the race itself, but the races have to be real, even if they might be sometimes arranged, such as in the last race between the veyron and the plane, where the veyron should have been smoked, but conveniently, james failed to mention that they can't fly over the alps, that's way too much to be real IMO.
