I just watched the episode with the Atom and I got thinking all of a sudden... Which is weird...

The specs are:

Engine: Honda iVTEC 4 cylinder, 220bhp at 8200rpm

And it weighs half a ton therefore putting the overall bhp to something like 600, which is Enzo/MC12 territory right?

What if Ariel gets a customer Ferrari engine... Say a V10 or a V12 or even a V8. Build the chassis out of titanium or carbon fibre so it doesn't go heavier and it's stronger. What on Earth would that take the bhp to then? Over a thousand?

Wouldn't that then just kick Mr Bugatti in the backside and send that diamond studded car back into the Dark Ages?

^^

Theres a Turbocharged 300hp one too.

And putting a so much bigger engine would shift all the weight to the back and kill you..

There is an american tuner company that have extracted 672hp out of a 2.2l V-TEC. So there are possibilitys even without stuffing a formula one engine in it.

Sure would...if it was mounted to an Atom. Unfortunately, the engine was fitted in a big and heavy Civic :p

But another idea of mine is fitting a Honda V6 to the Atom, from wich you could probably extract over 1000hp. Then make the chassie out of aluminium to compensate for the extra weight, and you would have about 2000hp/tonne. Thats more than Renaults F1 car...

That'd be utterly pointless and unusable though.

Just one thing to do then...4WD!

Just joking, the car i perfect as it is. Except maybe for the Aerodynamics, but giving it a bodyshell doesn't really make sense...

They make some little spoilers and side-panels and whatnot.

The Ariel already's got all the power it can handle. More power = more trouble keeping it on the tarmac.

Just thought it might be a bit of a technical break-through if they could get it over 1000bhp, which poor Bugatti has been trying so hard to do for so long

I mean if they do that they could prove they can make the fastest track car ever... As mentioned earlier, prob faster than the F1...

You can't just stick a big engine in a small chassis and expect it to go faster than an F1 car.

Putting some crazy big engine would effect the feel of the car and I dont even think it would fit lol. Still, it amazes me that the end result of putting a Civic Type R engine into something that weighs nothing is so incredible. They should put a proper 2.0L turbo engine in like a WRX engine

WRX engine puts out 300hp, same as the top of the line Atom engine.

No it puts the bhp per tonne to 600bhp per tonne... not the overall horsepower.

What's more the Ariel chassis couldn't accommodate a larger engine without a major chassis overhaul.

Why not just make an F1 car if you are gonna go through that much effort.

And the bugatti has nothing to worry about... it has 1000bhp... not 1000 bhp per tonne.
