Aspect ratio in VLC player

I got a videofile with a wrong aspect ratio.

Or at least, when I play it in BSPlayer or in WMP, the aspect ratio is fine, but the sound seems to be corrupt. I can hear some things, but other things I cannot hear. (very strange)

Only in VLC player, the sound is fine, but in VLC player, the aspect ratio is wrong. The video is too narrow (not high enough), but I can't find how to change that aspect ratio. I tried the command line, but it says it cannot recognise my command. (--aspect ratio or something, i can't remember)

Oh and GSpot tells me everything is fine.
Video Codec..: XviD
Video Bitrate: 992 kb/s
Audio Codec..: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc
Audio Bitrate: 448 kb/s (5 ch) CBR
Frame Size...: 624x256 (2.44:1) [=39:16]

But when I render it, it says nothing in the 'audio path' field

Anyone?

settings -> preferences -> video -> aspect ratio ;)

edit: you have to restart vlc to make it work

If the vid itself is encoded so that players don't prperly recognize its AR, you can always try http://www.moitah.net/
Simply set it to "square pixels" Should be fine then...
