Just like "Assembly line videos", but with pictures.

wow, finally a pic of the miura with it's doors open!

i once want to show a friend how the doors represent the horns of a bull, and not a single pic of the miura with open doors to be found...

Wow. Is that clothing legal? No safety boots, no helmet, no long trousers...would be forbidden on our line ;)

In the trim and final areas it is. Body portion of the line requires Kevlar sleeves and gloves. Visiting engineers must wear safety vests at all times.

Helmets in final assembly would be the most awkward thing ever. Should have proper boots though, and company issued clothing (shorts are fine).

I couldn't agree more on the company issued uniform. That said, I can see why the company would allow people to wear whatever - when you're working 10 hours with almost no breaks doing the same operation on 700+ trucks per shift, you'd want to be as comfortable as possible. I remember spending 2 weeks on the F150 line bolting trucks together when I first started at Ford so I can see why they go through. I just think it looks so sloppy and unprofessional when those "How Its Made" shows broadcast the assembly line and everyone is wearing god knows what.

I've noticed quite a few wearing watches or jeans with belt buckles when watching those kinds of clips. Or wedding rings. Scratchy scratchy! It's like in cooking shows where you see people that are supposed to be proffessional cooks wear rings and handle food. Eeek!

Technically watch/ring/belt covers are mandatory. I have a set handy whenever I need to go on plant visits.

It was the 70's and everything was laid back?

Doing that get's you expelled from the plant we built, no matter who you are. They kicked out the main project manager for second offense of wearing a watch. And he just walked through the hall.

I think not wearing standartised clothing is also not helping associating with the product....corporate identity etc.. Over here everyone is wearing same clothes and it looks so much nicer than that image above.

"This Aug. 13, 1954 photo provided by Chrysler, shows the final assembly line of a Plymouth plant in Detroit. It is so vast, that a visitor can walk about a half a mile without stepping outdoors."
