She makes more sense now...she obviously has had a great education
As their closest town was eighty kilometres away, they were educated via "School Of The Air." This required them to attend one, half-hour lesson talking on transceiver radio with other isolated children each day, and complete the remainder of their studies by post.
^I have never heard of such a thing :bangin:
Are you serious mate?? Gee whizz. School of the Air is massive. It's the only way the kids in the full on hardcore outback can get a proper education. Don't laugh at it, there's some bloody smart business minded people in the outback, how do you think they run those properties?
Yeah I'm serious - never heard of it. But I'll take your word on it. I find it funny that she grew up full wrestling animals and such. And now she's a TV presenter!

btw: A friend of mine showed me a picture of Anna from Big Brother as a grid girl at the Melbourne GP :D How about she host

No complaints from this side of the ring.

If she dressed on RPM like those last two photos I reckon I could just about forgive her hosting efforts.

Oh. I don't know about that. Upon the mention of Bay-ran I'd want to jump through the TV and throttle her throat... but I'd stop and stare for a bit :p

I just finished watching Race 1 from Winton via this link because Ten is too busy with the AFL on Saturday arvo's these days. Hopefully streaming races off an illegal backdoor to Bigpond coverage is something I won't have to do as of next year...

Very uneventfull race - no real crashes, no safety car period or anything.

Happy to see Dumbrell doing well and Jack Daniels Racing in general this year. I'm definately rooting for them and HRT come Bathurst time.

Saturday Races play late in the evenings now but before Saturday races only shown live if the event was big enough e.g Indy300. I wonder if 7 will play Saturday races live or even Sunday next year.

^ Check out pages 14 & 15 of this thread for our thoughts on the Seven decision (and some rather lovely pics of Grace McClure). In short, rumour is Saturday races will be shown live.

As for race 1 - very very quiet for Winton - after the pit stops every one was spread out, then just a run to the flag. We'll see what the reverse grid brings (boo hiss to the reverse grid btw).

Oh yeah, how could I forget - Rick Kelly spinning on cold tyres - loved it

I don't particularly like Winton. Yes from a drivers perspective it has 'charecter' compared to some other tracks (China for example) but it looks sooo second rate compared to any of the tracks the V8's go to during the year. Even NZ track is better for fans.

On the TV at least, you can't even see any of the fans on the circuit...they need to drop Winton once and for all.

Isn't Winton a quick substitute track this year to replace the China round?

Pretty much :| I'd prefer they go back to Calder Park or something.

btw: I didn't really like China all that much. As huge a$ the track was, it was a boring layout with no real gradients or anything. Good for F1's...not so for V8's.

At least HRT won

I just read in the newpaper that Jason Bright was offered to drive the Aston Martin DB9R at this years Le Mans, but because of the cancellation of the China event, this weekend's Winton round was moved forward a week on the V8 calander.

This means Jason missed the Mandatory Rookie event for Le Mans which was this weekend, so he won't be in Le Mans this year...

Wow, Todd Kelly - can someone buy this guy some luck - he sure deserves some. Talk about right place, wrong time (wth was Richo thinking?).

You won't see Calder Park on the calander for a long time, Bob Jane owns that and Bob Jane+VESA= :wall:

Winton: Considering there were 20,000 more people at this race than there were last time they raced there (2 years ago), and the fact they had more people at Winton (61,000) for the weekend than they did at the last round which was Perth, I can't really see it disappearing soon.
I can't see China coming back soon, if you know the reason behind the name change from AVESCO to VESA, you'll know why. Townsville street race will be the next change to the calander, but that will probably be at the expense of the paperclip.

Pretty uneventfull round overall. Good on Lowndesey but I would have preffered Brighty won for FPR.
Good on the Toll HSV cars aswell...they're 1-2 in the championship now  Wonder if they'll partner each other in the enduros....
Skaifey got lucky...finished 5th but if he got just 2-or so more points, he would have been 3rd. He leads the championship on adjusted points.

He does, but only because he didn't score any points in Adelaide, he can't afford to have another bad round - which we all know he will.

Lowndes will win it this year, he kicked Skaifey's ass all over the place when they were in the same team, now he's doing it again in a car of equal power but different manufacture, he's worst round was Adelaide and he won the first race !!

The thing that pisses me off with V8's is you shouldn't have any number in the top ten unless you came that position last year, Lowndes came 2nd last year not Skaife !! he's had the number 2 on the side of his car since he lost the number one 3 years ago (he would have the number 14 on the side of his car if they had to show the position they came in the championship last year).

That would just be confusing :? Besides, I remember drivers by their numbers. ie; Greg Murphy and 51.

That's my point, the cars who finish 1- 10 should have the choice of those numbers on the side of their cars, if they didn't want them then it's a free number, Lowndes came second last year, he could have the number 2 or keep 888. As it is, it's only fist place that has that choice, so Skaife can keep the number 2 on his car even though he came 14th last year.

V8 Supercars to bypass the Australian Grand Prix in 2007

Release Date: 31/07/2006

V8 Supercars Australia has made the decision that Australia?s premier motor sport category will not attend the 2007 Australian Grand Prix due to a date clash.

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation announced on Friday that the 2007 event will be held on March 15-18 next year, the same weekend that the World Swimming Championships commence in Melbourne.

V8 Supercars Australia Chief Executive Officer Wayne Cattach said that V8 Supercars Australia had thought the Grand Prix date would be the previous weekend.

?We were very surprised on Friday that the date they chose clashes with the World Swimming Championships, which also makes it very hard to secure accommodation on that weekend,? Mr Cattach said today.

The board of V8 Supercars Australia held a teleconference over the weekend to discuss the AGP date and voted that it does not fit with the 2007 Championship Series calendar that is being finalised this month.

?We are disappointed that we won?t be attending and have notified Tim Bamford from the Grand Prix Corporation who was surprised but accepting of our decision,? Mr Cattach said.

?There is a clash of dates in that we are planning a Championship round the following weekend in Perth. It is physically impossible for our teams to compete at the Grand Prix and turn around just a few days later in Perth.

?Our planning for 2007 has been underway for several months, since we announced that Seven will assume the broadcast rights from next year. These discussions include moving the Perth round outside of the AFL season due to the two-hour time difference of the western seaboard.

?With the Grand Prix a non-Championship event our first priority is to the regular Championship season, our teams and the host broadcaster which next year will be Network Seven.?

V8 Supercars have traditionally raced at the Grand Prix as the premier support category. The event, however, does not count for Championship points and as such is not a round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

V8 Supercars Australia will release its full 2007 calendar in the first two weeks of September.
