Australian V8 Supercars

This weekend, I watched an old race from the 2000 Clipsal 500 where it rained and Skaifey started from the back and carved his way to win the race. Terrific race, one of the bestest!

//yeh random comment.

I still remember in '99 when Lowndes did the same thing in the HRT Commodore. He won the Saturday Race, was put to the back for tagging a slower car while trying to lap it and then came from the back to win again on Sunday.

Anyone notice Matthew White is not good at Maths, at the end of the show when he was talking about next weekends coverage, the times were 1:30pm - 5:00pm for Saturday and Sunday. Matthew said "4 1/2 hours of V8s on Saturday and Sunday."

I noticed that too!

He had the coverage duration right - but the telecast times were wrong. It's 1:00pm - 5:30pm.

HRT has been allowed to compete at Adelaide, but they could be banned from the rest of the season. Here's what v8supercar.com.au says...

Holden Racing Team clear for the Clipsal 500 grid in Adelaide

The Holden Racing Team will be on the grid at this week?s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide after having accepted an ultimatum from Touring Car Entrants Group Australia (TEGA) to resolve its outstanding control and ownership issues to TEGA?s satisfaction.

The Team has been given a final reprieve of 14 days to evidence compliance with the Team?s Licence Agreement (TLA).

TEGA and V8 Supercars Australia wrote to Skaife Sports the company that runs Holden Racing Team, today with a binding final offer that will ensure the compliance of the team, with the provisions of the TLA.

The team will only be permitted to compete beyond Adelaide if Skaife Sports can satisfy TEGA that the contractual and financial arrangements are such that Mark Skaife is in true and effective control of the team.

The Boards of TEGA and V8 Supercars Australia have considered and understand the commercial consequences of such an outcome and recognise the need to protect the integrity of the competition for the benefit of all shareholders, stakeholders and fans for the long term.

Both boards are keen for the Holden Racing Team to continue in the V8 Supercar Championship Series but only in full compliance with the provisions of the TLA.

The TLA is designed to ensure that every team competing in the V8 Supercar Championship Series does so on an even footing.

It requires that teams are independently owned. It prohibits a situation where there is cross ownership or control of more than one team. The benefits of ownership are personal to the legal and beneficial owner of the TLA and a controlling interest cannot be transferred to any other entity without approval of TEGA.

Those persons who are granted a licence to compete must be of good character, and undertake to compete fairly and professionally and have the appropriate knowledge and qualifications to discharge the responsibility of a team owner in the best interests of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

I was in the city today for work and they had a Vodafone promo with one of the 888 falcon's, some half baked celeb's etc there.

Up close the falcon looks sensational!!! Probably one of the best looking V8SC's I've seen ever. It's basically like the Mclarens. Chrome and dayglo red. Cant wait to see them on the track on Friday!

It's like when Mark Noske had his Ferrai done up in proper F1 Ferrari red. Dayglo is stunning!!

You're right the Vodafone 888 Falcons look great and with "Lnowdes" on the side, it has also become a great marketing tool for Vodafone. Good Luck 888!

Does it still have Lnowdes on there??

Just says 'Vodafone' now - the Lnowdes thing was a Phillip Island special.

Due to the liquidation of 888's main sponsor last year Betta Electrical - otherwise the cars would not have had any sponsors on the car for Philip Island.

Clipsal 500 kicks off tomorrow :D Cant wait!!!

Damn I'm playing cricket this Saturday...what AM radio station could I tune into to listen??

Did you notice the temperatures for the 4 days.

Thursday Hot 34
Friday Hot 37 :?
Saturday Warm 26 :)
Sunday Rain 22 :D

Your Just jealous of our heat , going to be interesting race if the rain does occur, since public street and the lack of rain over a long period of time is going to make the track extra slippery

Yeah I'm lookin forward to this weekend with the weather. 2 hot days I can handle but 4 is a bit too much. Bring on the rain!

As for Radio stations.. 891 ABC will be doing some crosses Sat & Sun but if your fairly close to the city you should be able to pick up the on-track FM station they usually have.

EDIT: Just looked in the program that the ontrack radio will be 94.3 FM so give that a go! In years past I could get it as far north-east as Holden Hill

I was listening to FiveAA yesterday and some bloke was walking around the track and said there appears to be more dust and leaves, possibly due to the drought, than ever before. Add rain and presto!! Fantastic race :D

Its still a shame it isnt the full circuit though.

Interesting results - great to see Courtney & Whincup up there, but what happened to Skaife & Rick??

And Holdsworth - where did he pull that speed from???
