Australian V8 Supercars

Holdsworths in a VZ by the way!!

The on track commentators mentioned today that they are mighty impressed with Fords repsonse to the new VE and how poorly the big VE teams are performing.

I thought Tasman's performance in the VE was pretty impressive - just couldnt get a good lap in qualifying.

BTW the new qualifying system I thought worked very well - was a frantic session!

Looking forward to tomorrow for a couple of reasons - It's going to be cooler and the first leg of the race is on!!!!

I still think the Hairpin stand is one of the best places to see the race from - Unless you can get in a corporate box!

No, Only on Sat and Sun.

Skaife and Kelly are showing what happens when you are the lead driver for a Walkinshaw team(s).

Oh, that's right you guys are in Adelaide, which explains why you saw Friday's action. :?

The KFC ads nearly made me sick. Quite liked the RAA one; 'I saw that Trev!'...

Anyway, the race.
Great to see Todd Kelly win as its always nice to see the Holden Racing Team win :D :D . Pity about Skaife but hopefully he'll find some more pace tomorrow.
Channel 7 are doing a competent job so far, but Mark Beretta's questions on the podium were pretty lame, especially when he asked the winner what he thought of the car, despite the winner having already said it was 'awesome'...

Bring on race two!

Those ads were quite annoying.

Yeah his questions were silly, and he asked too many. And him telling them to take there place on the podium was annoying, all he had to do was thank them, I think they'd get the message...

I doubt they are as bad as the on track commentators, Murray Walker excluded!

Good stuff for Todd...will this be his year? Hopefully Skaifey can find some more pace as he cannot afford to be that far back in the pack this early in the year and considering the new points system.

The podium dude was crap, IMO. He was like a robot asking those not so well thought out questions, he read too much off his cards and lacked the appropriate enthusiasm. And then there was that 'power failure'...that wasn't very good.

Anyway - can't wait for tomorrow! Hopefully theres lots of crashes, lol. Don't tell the drivers/teams I said that!

The problem with Beretta doing the podium is that we have been used to the having Rusty do it. Rusty is king of the podiums and really made Beretta look second rate. That said, it's their first race, of course it will improve.

BTW: I like 7's pit overalls. Very fancy indeed!!

Yeah Barry Oliver is a nice guy but I reckon he's getting a bit old to be commentating. Murray knew when to quit...

But how great was it to hear him again today on-track!

Great race - I can't believe they went 78 laps without a safetycar! Would have been punishing on the drivers to say the least.

One day left to go - has been a great 3 days so far!

I agree. I was going to pay the $240 for a seat at Turn 8. Glad I didnt now. Its only worth it if you get crashes both days. I hope theres some big ones tomorrow!!

Amazing clean race for Adelaide - can't believe they got away without a safety car. Of course race 2 could be a very different matter - but it was nice to see everyone (mostly) come away from race 1 with straight cars.

As for Seven's coverage - so far, so good. I admittedly haven't seen the podium or any of the post-race coverage yet, but I thought they did a job certainly equal to that which Ten was doing. The commentary team still needs a bit of time to gel, but that will come with time.

What I did really like though was seeing some support races as well as the V8's - that made a nice change.

Yeah I think it's good to see Seven showing the support races, it'll be interesting to see if they continue to show them once the AFL starts.

ch7 only seemed to show top 10 spots throughout the day,
there were 30 cars in the field,

and with all slumber car races, someone back in the teens can still move forward, especially if a kelly is near the front aiming at peoples rear quarter pannels.
