From a drifring.com forum thread:

...latest drift car that is out in Australia, it is a Holden Monaro (gto over there) and it only weighs 1048.5kg with 30 litres of fuel, and about 1026kg without fuel! It made a genuine 848.9 hp on the engine dyno and 775 ft-pounds of torque which is about 70% more than a V8 Supercar...

This thing is INSANE!!!!! 850hp and 1050kg  and if im not mistaken, converting torque into NM gives about 1050NM.

I know its dyno values, but daaaaaaaamn :|
the most powerful cars in d1, like nomuken's er43, hks s15, kazama's s15, orido's supra etc produce about 5-600hp, and about the same amount of torque (in NM).

I got no clue who drives that car, but he must be hell of a driver, with pretty damn good throttle control... :)

Pictures of the beast

Ahahaha JustDave.... I used to talk to him on www.boostcruising.com Its an Australia wide cruising website based here in Brisbane.

Top car though... would be interesting to see it setup for the track instead of drifting then put up against a V8 Supercar.

EDIT: I just realised thats at QLD Raceway... WOOO!!

OK, Stupid question but what the hell....people in drift cars sometimes carry a passenger, like this Holden. Why is that? Balance?

for the same reason your friend takes you for a spin with his new car ;)

show, impression rides, a lot of times its journalist etc :)

Nah, just along for the ride in practise ;)

TBH, Thats a silly amount of power, theres no reason really for it. Here we have SR20 powered AE86's and RWD GTR's which push the 500bhp barrier which is plenty enough for top international circuits.

The most powerful D1 car is Atsushi Kuroi's RB26DETT powered PS13 Onevia at around 750bhp ..

Cool car, but what a waste using it for drifting. :p

Running a T78 on LOW boost aswell,so anything up to 900bhp is reasonable or even into 4 figures

The ballpark figure for a turbocharged D1GP car is around 450bhp.Orido is running 700bhp,Miki 600 and Ueo 200 in his Hachi

Having seen D1GP cars for real yesterday the torque figures are quite high judging by their acceleration!!

I think you find there is one thats slighty faster,

The guys from Kappa (a large australian workshop that deals with superchargered cars) has there own ute that pulls 1000+rwhp with a 5.7L Gen III supercharged,
At nats last year, they told of there plan to move the motor into a drift ute (which was there) and take it to japan to compete in drift comps.. (guessing d1)

Would love to find more information on it

Sounds a bit mad,but D1GP is at the top of a very long ladder and you cant just turn up and compete either. There are plenty of other lower (but just as competitive) drift series in Japan

WHAT A BEAST  An Aussie would realise that it has the headlamps of a VY Commodore, the engine hood vents of a VZ Monaro and the general body shape of a GTO (basically monaro).

I agree with Viper...its being wasted in the drift scene and I also agree that 500-600 maybe 700 is enough power for this beast...probly why it should be in circuit racing.

hehe ive got a poster of that on my wall, and as far as i can remember it was something like 700kW but that on normal unleaded or 95 or something, they mentioned putting it up to 98(?).

it was scary, i saw it at the holden versus ford show earlier this year and it was a beast.
