In what is surely to be a long teaser campaign, BMW has released first details for the production ready M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology).

Previously revealed as the BMW M3 GTS Sedan Concept, the lightweight model is basically a sedan version of the M3 GTS Coupe, the most extreme 3-Series-based factory car of the current E92 generation. Unfortunately the extra two doors bring a little extra weight - 90 kg (198 lbs) to be exact, making for a total of 1580 kg (3483 lbs), but still 45 kg (100 lbs) lighter than a stock M3 sedan.

The saved weight is in due part to the carbon fiber hood, seats and roof as well as the titanium exhaust. Design tweaks include blacked out twin kidney grilles with matching hood vents. Fender side blades accented in red along with a carbon fiber luggage lid spoiler. Inside, special rear seats, door sills and door panels get carbon fiber and aluminum decorative trim.

Although not officially released yet, the powerplant from the GTS Coupe is expected to transfer over to the M3 CRT. That engine is a 4.4-litre V8 based on the 4.0-litre engine found in the standard M3. Maximum power is 450 PS (331 kW / 444 bhp) an increase of 30 PS (22 kW / 29.5 bhp) and the transmission is the 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) with adapted shift characteristics. The M3 CRT runs 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds - 0.3 seconds faster than the standard M3 sedan. Top speed is 290 km/h (180 mph).

Utilizing the same 19-inch aluminum wheels as the GTS Coupe, tire sizes are slightly narrower with 245/35 tires up front and 265/30s at the rear. Front brake discs are 378 x 32mm at the front and 380 x 28mm out back and get squeezed by six piston calipers.

Sounds good, right? Well, don't get too excited as the limited edition will only be available to 67 well connected BMW customers. Price in Germany will be EUR 130.000.- incl. VAT. So, keep dreaming BMW fan boys.

Looks pretty, but I'd love to see how much silver polish it would take to remove the tarnishing. :p

Funny how the chromed look just 'works' on certain cars, but (imho) the 'gold-plated' look never does.

None. It's not chrome (and chrome isn't silver anyway; it doesn't tarnish). They "just" polished the aluminum body panels. (Unless they took the easy way out and it's just a wrap.)

Nope. Here's the article for it though:

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Renault?s iconic 4, the French firm?s first front-wheel drive family car that was introduced in 1961 and remained in production until 1992. Not surprisingly, the automaker and enthusiasts of the car alike are planning several events over the year to commemorate the Renault 4?s golden birthday.

Aside from launching a design competition for the creation of a modern-day Renault 4, the automaker is also lending a helping hand to a team of four French enthusiasts who will attempt to set a new record at the Bonneville Speed Week, which takes place in northwestern Utah from August 13 to 20.

With the help of Renault?s Classic and Sport divisions, the team, which calls itself the ?Triplets de Bonneville?, prepared a specially modified Renault 4 using the body and chassis of a panel van version.

The Bonneville speed racer features a 290-horsepower turbocharged engine sourced from the Renault 5 Turbo that participated in the French Touring Car Championship of 1983. It also sports a gearbox from the Renault 25 GTX Turbo and the brakes from a Renault 25 (front) and Clio (rear).

To ensure optimum safety, in addition to a roll cage and a fire extinguisher, the car is equipped with a special harness, a single bucket seats and a braking parachute housed in the roof.

The makers of the Renault 4 Bonneville racer believe that their creation will manage to achieve a top speed in excess of 280 km/h, which would make it the fastest Renault 4 ever built.

I'm not sure if I should share my own picture here, but since it's about N?rburgring, BMW M1 and flames, I suppose it's okay?
