Awesome Thread

I can't even imagine how difficult this is

That picture isn't to scale. The image is 1600x1600, so the earth in there might be 1200x1200 and one pixel would be 10km... from the bottom of the ocean to the top of Everest would be two pixels.

You are correct, I apologize for the misleading picture.

The billard ball topic is extensively discussed here: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2008/09/08/ten-things-you-dont-know-about-the-earth/

tl;dr: "If you measure between the north and south poles, the Earth?s diameter is 12,713.6 km. If you measure across the Equator it?s 12,756.2 km, a difference of about 42.6 kilometers. Uh-oh! That?s more than our tolerance for a billiard ball. So the Earth is smooth enough, but not round enough, to qualify as a billiard ball."

Well... when they say 2.25" diameter +/- 0.005"... doesn't that allow any ball from 2.245" to 2.255"? Scaling those 0.01" to Earth size yields 56km... so yeah, the Earth is within spec if the spec were 12733km +/- 28km (half of 56km to match +/- 0.005"), it's only deviating by 21km in either direction due to not being a sphere.

Koryo Tours has good connections and made Rob Whithworth able to shoot this magnificent thing. Welcome to the Hermit Kingdom.

And remember Pyongyang is the city of the elite, a display window.

Moar cities here: http://www.robwhitworth.co.uk/Portfolio.html

For instance Barcelona

How the hell does that thing get airborne?

KaJuN won't be happy with his bird left out on the sidelines like that
