BBC under pressure to sack Jeremy Clarkson over N-word claims

I'm still surprised no one's going after the paper that posted the shocking video in the first place. Were it not for them, this wouldn't have come to light at all, so they're just as guilty of spreading this blatant racism as the BBC/Jeremy/TG is.

And by 'blatant racism', I mean 'oh, seriously, get a life people'....

I don't understand why the person responsible for finding and sending that clip in the first place isn't sharing any of the blame. They are as responsible as the so called paper for publishing it for causing this mess.

If Top Gear was on one of the commercial channels, I would be less worried, as I am sure that the advertising revenue it would bring in, would be a big influence in keeping it on the air. The trouble is, the BBC gets its money from the licence fee not advertising. There is also a sizeable number of left leaning PC folks in the Beeb who would dearly love to see TG defenestrated. The current focus is to get arts more in the mainstream, TG clearly doesn't fit in well with this focus.

Of course if TG does get booted from the BBC, another channel would love to snap it up, Netflix or Amazon would love to get a boost like that. Another option would be for BBC Worldwide to take over production as it has effective independance from BBC.

Not just the BBC, but there is a huge contingent of vile cultural-marxist lefties in the civil service and all government institutions who are after Top Gear. All those jibes about the public sector and socialism deeply offend them and they want the show gone, even though it's the only decent thing on the BBC. These liberal-arts, student-union types have been gunning for Clarkson and Top Gear for years and won't stop trying to convict him of thought-crime.

Clarkson needs to stop grovelling to these disgusting marxists and take his show elsewhere then laugh as the BBC are forced to cut jobs.

Guess which episode aired last night on BBC America? Yep!

I'm sorry, but I'm as liberal as they come and I still enjoy Top Gear. If people really can't enjoy the show just because they don't agree with Jeremy Clarkson's politics, they really are sad people.

The only pressure that exists is pompous nobodies, huffing and puffing, circle jerking each other frantically trying to create drama where there is none.

My good god....... They actually contacted Obama?!?!

This is obviously a witch hunt, sometimes I lose faith in humanity.
Mind you, Obama probably recieves crackpot letters & emails by the tonnes every single day.

Some people just have too much time on their hands. I recall another group that threatened to go to a Tottenham home game, claiming that if they heard anyone say the Y-word, they'd sue the club into oblivion.

I assume you are American judging by your misuse of the term liberal. In the UK I am referring to cultural-marxists, or rather the section of the left that intends to impose its utopia on society via censorship, regulation and shaming. These people fill the ranks of the BBC and also conspire together to lobby and harass government and the media to shut down dissenters in the name of political-correctness.

These aren't "Obama-voting" lefties, but something far more sinister and it is shameful that more people are not fighting back. Clarkson should never have apologised, he did absolutely nothing wrong and the BBC needs him far more than he (or anyone) needs them.

nzg, if I were you I would really get my head checked. You seem to suffer from severe paranoia.

Great idea writing to 200 ambassadors and Obama asking for censorship... and they call themselves lawyers? :wall:

[...]Our principal lawyer has won a sex discrimination claim against the USA
from their website equaljustice.co.uk

They are out for big, high profile clients and cases. And the Press is eager to tag along on this sort of ride as the press is always happy when they can cover a scandal. This is bascially free publicity for the firm.

Oh come on the word is YID and you know what, I am quite happy to be called a Yid, it can only be offensive to me if I accept it as offensive, I choose to accept it as a source of pride. For thr record I would take offence if you called me a Spurs fan!

I really would like to hear from some Black members of FG, and what they think. Anyone?

I think it's pretty overblown. Like another poster I had no idea that word "tiger" was actually a substitute for the other word. Do I think he's racist? Not really, shit happens. There'd have to be more evidence a' la a certain NBA owner to safely come to that conclusion.

Something occurred to me. If the BBC thought it was such a terrible thing, why no fine or suspenion?

Isn't that what they usually do when something is determined to be so serious?

I came here today just to post that point exactly. I was watching and when it came on, I literally shouted, "NO FUCKING WAY." It shows exactly how the BBC really feels about the situation, at least in my mind. I'm sure there was a discussion, and I'm sure all branches of the BBC were in on it. Can I give rep to the beeb for that one?

In the end, it's just a word...that he didn't even say.

Heh, it aired tonight on BBC Canada. But, they were airing that series anyway, so it was just good timing.

Well... Clarkson definitely isn't sacked from the Beeb just yet: https://twitter.com/qikipedia/status/463745856630702080

1st recording of the QI L series is about to start! @sanditoksvig, @prodnose & @JeremyClarkson are taking their seats on the panel right now

Here's what Alan Davies had to say about the episode:

1st QI of series L recorded. Great panel @prodnose @sanditoksvig & a fantastic ovation from the studio audience for @JeremyClarkson Pleased.

A number of people have responded that they're disappointed in QI for allowing Jeremy on the show and upset that Davies was pleased about Jeremy getting an ovation.

they weren't standing, just applauding warmly and cheering and he is absolutely not a bigot.

That is nice.

Glad to hear the people who actually know Jezza personally are supporting him.

Remember how the BBC handled Jonathan Ross a few years ago. If they had any intention of sacking Clarkson, I'm sure a fine or even a suspension would've happened.
