Someone sent me an e-mail saying they found some BBC World rips that supposedly aren't JW rips. Should I release them even though they are missing some content?

1.
Top Gear - Nissan 350Z, VW Beetle, Daihatsu Copen, Mercedes CLK, Citroen
Plureal, Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, Ford Focus RS, WV, Golf R32.avi Series 2 - Programme Eight - Sunday 6th July 2003 http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/prog18/index.shtml

2.
Top Gear - Audi RS6 vs Mercedes E55 AMG - Lada transformation - Van
race.avi
Programme Eight - Sunday 8th December 2002 http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/prog8/index.shtml

BOTH of these episodes appear to be full episdoes.... however.....

The first one doesn't have Jodie Kidd on the track, or Darth Vader/Ming the
merciless and no mention of the Citroen DS!!! - Which is quite odd as there
appears to be no cutting and patching of the .avi, and there is the title /
end credits... Ripped from BBC World.

The second rip misses the title, but does contain the end credits. Again
there appears to be no patching of the .avi but the episode doesn't contain
the Five Supermminis / Sir Michael Gambon or the Maserati 4200GT..... Again
ripped from BBC World.

no I can't!

I don't have your 50 DVd collection of stuff  I have a tiny collection :(

And mine's even smaller :p I'm with you Ren, I can't wait for the next season, and nice, high quality rips from VUK!!! *insert drooling smiley here*

Oh, that reminds me: Viper, weren't we supposed to get new smileys soon?!?

it doesnt look too bothersome. it doesnt effect the sidescrolls and is a nice pic but i guess if it bothers some then having it reduced shouldnt be too troubling.

Here's a deal... If you all buy me a nice new computer with a great TV card, I'll give you the entire series 2 in return. :p

EDIT:
If anyone cares to help me out, I might give this a try after my exams. I've tried capturing with my Mentor TV Card, but it will not allow me to capture with a video codec like divx or whatnot, and furthermore, I can't get any sound. When I check the file properties, it says the sound is 88kbps PCM, but I can't hear a thing when I play it. What's PCM?

(k, I looked it up... it's a Mentor TV-99 ---> looks like I'm screwed :? )

Yeah apparently... a 5 second file takes up 50MB. --> one episode of TG would be 35GB.

From what I understand from others (I don't capture), to get the best quality it is best to capture using a lossless compression codec for video and audio, then edit it, and then compress it using whatever codec you want (like xvid).

Lossless means it's not interpreting the video / audio during compression, and the image /sound is exactly recreated during decompression (This is essentially like ZIP / RAR compression).
