Nissan Skyline GT-R R34: Click for video

Old Datsun / Nissan straight sixes.

You two should both be smacked in the head, there is no way a RB (or a L) can sound nice....menaceing but not nice. They produce one of the most horrid, droneing noise known to man.....

(sorry I get emotional about that, I have a rather "hot" Nissan RB engine in my car and they sound woeful...trust me)

Alfa Romeo V6 --> with carbs The South African built GTV6 or the old Alfa 6. Still even in EFI form they are wonderful. Its the best, most soulful mass produced motor ever. Period.

As for woeful sounding motors it a wonder that most of them are Japanese.....

I have always had a soft spot for the impreza's boxer 4 especially with a bigger exhaust.

Also a mk2 escort cross flow tuned up and rally prepped. They just seem to be driven on the limiter the whole time.

I also love big supercharged diesel's purely because you can hear the torque but most of thoose are in tanks and boats so don't really count.

Oh and the orignal blower bentley, it had a piston type supercharger that makes a mental noise!! Will try and find a video.

One of my all time faves, the SLR Maclaren.. its the whirl of that supercharger with teh deep grunt of the engine, harmoneous

And then theres the black merc which is babus tuned i think in this (not sure of the engine, but its the deep.. 1:57 and 3:24 in)

got to say i much prefer deep sounding engines as opposed to screamers..

i think prodrives P2 squirel munching sound is so cool too
