I can't believe no one mentioned the RS4

or the SL55 AMG

or the e39 M5

I heard a Porsche 911 turbo a few weeks ago and they do sound really good. For some reason, i think it sounds best at low rpm, like driving slowly away. It's a fantastic rumbling sound.

I also found this video of a '77 Porsche 911 Turbo... Pure oldschool porsche sound!:

Great vids :)

But that 2.7 RS... those foglights (or whatever they are) look horrid! The owner must be mad to install those... Or are they a stock option?

They weren't standard equipment, but opional extras. Foglights like that were popular in the 70s. Rallycars and endurance racecars had them.

I think that naturally aspirated cars do sound better than their turbocharged likes cars in general. For instance, Carrera and GT3-models do sound better than their turbocharged siblings, wich sounds more muted, as tha turbocharger muffles the engine as well as it takes away that rasp mechanical induction sound.

My favourite engine sound is propably those finnish mercs ST's(super turbo8) )
Straight six with huge turbo.. like holset hx40 and garret gt40 and bigger turbos...
You really should hear the whistle and exhaust when that kind of thing overtakes you8) 8)

Second favourite sound is of course v8's with "tight" cams and straight exhausts..

You guys may laugh at this one, but if you have ever owned one you would know what I am talking about.

Ford Taurus SHO with the Yamaha V6.

...and I also agree with the e39 M5. German V8's sound nice, but as much I hate to say it I don't think anything can beat the sound of an American V8.

Scoot Sports FD3S 4 rotor!

That throttle response is amazing - makes a nice sound too (and I used to hate the rotary sound)
