Beyond Google As We Know It

Very interesting article. One thing that it reminds me of is that short flash film that came out a while ago on Google, called Epic 2014 ( http://epic.makingithappen.co.uk/ ). As much as my life is controlled by Google right now (Gmail, Googledesktop, picasa, etc.), I have to wonder how much more they will be able to do. I think it was Arthur C. Clarke (correct me if I'm wrong) who said that we should underestimate technology in the short run but overestimate it in the long run. Remember how we were supposed to all have flying cars by the 1970's?

And so it has been. Under StrongBot's guidance, death and want have been all but eradicated. Everyone has access to all knowledge. Human consciousness has been stored, upgraded, and networked. Bodies that wear out can be replaced. They-Who-Were-Google are no longer alone. Now we are all Google.
Terrifying stuff. I'll be under the blankets if you need me. They'll never take me alive!

You are chinese anyway, Google keeps up with their rules so you dont have a problem ;)
Every once in a while some strong corporation comes along, but it will go down eventually. Just look at IBM in the early 80's or Microsoft in 10years time ( OK that is a wish but still) There has always been change in our world, google cannot freeze that

You mean you don't want to be able to upgrade and replace your body? Dude I'm first in line for a synthetic body and cyberbrain, haha.

Perhaps it's time for an avatar change...

I just don't want to wake up in the morning and find out that I've completely forgotten how to brush my teeth because of "ERROR 604852: HARD DISK CORRUPTED" because I fell down the stairs yesterday night. And that when I catch a cold I don't remember what my childhood was.

And your memories and consciousness will be backed up, referenced and cross-linked with everyone else's in the core mind. :p

Dude, future world with Google will not be Aurthur C. Clarke's 1984. It will be the pen & papper RPG known simply as "Paranoia". In the future, we will all have 6 clones. Our most wretched enemy are those commie bastards! Trust the Computer! The Computer is your friend! Happiness is manditory! Are you happy, citizen? Failure to comply will result in summary executions!

Yeah, the future will be interesting. Just remember, stay alert! Trust no one! Keep your laser handy!

untill sth brakes and needs replacement, but you're alread 2 years old and out dated, the needed parts aren't made no more.

you don't die, you're just placed aside to look at how everything evolves on, unable to do anything

i prefer to die :)
