You guys are all elitist, capitalist and materialistic. Im currently rebuilding a 40 -year old single speed granny bicycle :D

That looks really nice, though it only has two chain rings...

Thanks. I thought about going with 3 chain rings but, then figured it'd be easier to just go with two.

sadly for the moment i only have a intense factory pro alloy xl 2009 which is a bmx and a bmx dosent make a good commuter, i am still undecided if i want to go fixie way and look like a damm stupid hipster or buy a proper road bike like a cervelo s1 but if i do that i will way too much worried about locking it up in montreal when i ill be at university.whatever thats a picture of what my bike is but mine is a bit dirtier

I want one of these so bad.

I've never wanted a bicycle before.

Does anyone have any experience with that brand? I don't want to buy it if it turns out to be a piece of crap that can't support my manly frame.

Schwinn cruiser are pretty standard. My housemate has two of them and they get him around just fine.

Schwinn used to be a pretty solid company. I heard the sold out to Pacific though. If it really matters. Most all brand name bikes are built in China any more...

That's all cool. I don't mind if it's just a standard quality bike, I just wanted to make sure that it isn't a complete piece of shit.

I have a Nishiki TR-29. It was cheap and works suprisingly well. Except for that 8th gear on the back doesn't work all the time. And the chain jumps every now and then. But the wheels are big, and that suits me perfectly since I'm about 6'7".

My "new" ride... got it at the end of October after my old one was worn done with about 30.000km

On this one I've also more then 2000km now... April was a good month for Mountain biking, so 680km. I hope May can top this.

About 5 Months have passed since i wrote that... means I have the bike for a almost a year now.

Time for a first resume:

Now I'm at 4696km... I've worn down 2 pairs of tires and all together I can't complain. The ride is much better than on my old bike. This suspension fork is way more sophisticated than my previous one and you really feel it.

However I have a problem with it... there is a knob on the handle bar where i can lock the suspension to avoid loosing energy in the suspension while riding on tarmac roads. Somehow the release button doesn't work anymore. So if I want to unlock the suspension i have to do it manually on the fork because somehow it doesn't turn back by it's own :/ Also the fork is leaking a tiny amount of oil... Not alot.. you can't see it. But at the area collects dust. This started already in early summer... and i went to the dealer who said it will be repaired on product guarantee but it will be away for some time so I should wait until winter if i want... :?

Also once.. the chain broke while riding up a hill... luckily just about 1km from home  Why... I don't know...

the 8th gear not working and the chain jumping means that your rear derailleur is not adjusted properly. Normally there is 2 screw on the back of your derailleur, the upper one is for the first gear, so dont touch this one, but the lower one is for the upper gear. So put your you bike on a stand on anything that make the rear wheel free to spin easily, then try to play a bit with and changing gear.If you cant make it work and it become really annoying, go see a good bike mechanician at your lbs and that will cost you something like 5$ or maybe even nothing.

Try cleaning the wire/housing connected to the lockout. A dirty cable won't be able to rebound.
Also, it's pretty normal that a fork will leak oil, but if your LBS can fix it/replace it then let them do that :)
