Bicycles!

That looks... weird. Is there some special purpose for it? Why the balls-crushing angle on the seat? And why the 3mb photo hosted on the imagesuck? :(

I couldn't be bothered to resize it, since it is also for my selling ad - makes it easier to see the details. The angle of the seat looks much worse than it is, the riding position is a bit steep, so it's rather comfortable like that. Also makes it a lot easier to hold on to the seat mid flight with your thighs, when it is like that. It's not a daily commuter bike - form follows function type of thing.

Special purpose ? Dirt/street/Dual/4x.

I've got two road bikes, a 2006 Fuji Roubaix SL and a Giant FCR 2 which is a flat bar'd sort of hybrid commuter bike. I also have an old Trek 820 hardtail MTB that was given to me.

Pics of the road bikes:

Here is what I have. Hand made in the UK (the frame that is).

Unfortunately due to the current financial climate I'm forced to sell the damn thing....sigh...

My brother also has a Ms Isle.
He has different forks these days.

I'm surprised at how many of you guys' bikes have disc brakes, yet not a single one of you so far has posted a full-suspension bike!

Mine used to have a shock in the seat post but I'm a big guy and it just sort of sagged so I replaced it with a regular one, much better.

I have something like this:

Has done about 2500km. At the moment I can't ride it though as I need to replace the chain and rear cassette for it after I foolishly left it sitting outside for almost a full year.

Well yah... i'd like to buy a fully. But if i want the same quality as i have now with my front suspension... it costs more then i could afford.
My limit was what i could earn in 4 weeks working in my semester break.

But the disc breaks are not a special "luxury" item. I think it's just neccessary because i don't get them to fade like my old V-Brakes did. But the worst problem with the V-Brakes was the dirt. Whenever i drive in mud there was sand on the surface where the brakes touch the rims. Causing... no deceleration and weird noise and high.

It's just more safe and more controlled to drive now.

I still like to take it on the trails at least once when I make trips to California, though, just because the scenery and weather is so beautiful, especially compared to here.

I just love trails. Luckily here in my local forest that starts 400 meter from my house there are a lot. And although i have been biking in this strip of wood for... i don't know for many thousand kilometers... i still found new trails many times.
Just thrilling to drive there... finding out how to drive certain passages.. and enjoy the nature. I love it

Full suspension is mostly unnecessary unless you do a lot of extreme downhill riding. It adds weight, increases frame flex, and price.

Brakes on the other hand are very necessary. I'm more surprised to see all these 4 figure bikes and only one with clip-ins.

Wow, nice bikes guys. I've just got a cobbled together BMX bike at the moment. Both my brother and I rode BMX competitively for 7-8 years, and we've been building street bikes even longer. So between us we've got enough parts to build all sorts of stuff.

This bike is mostly the product of me stripping down a Specialized Hemi (solid bike, I just didn't like the long tail) and throwing the parts on an old Kink Freebird frame. I wound up changing a bunch of small stuff too; basically all that's left of the Specialized is the front end. That might be an Eastern fork too, I don't remember.

Anyway, it's a great bike (and nearly indestructible, exception being the 3/8" front end) that cost me very little to put together. It keeps up with a few mountain bikers on the trails, too. :D

Your bike certainly looks different than the others, but looks fine nonetheless!

Meet 'Gretchen'. She's a million years old but I bought her just a few weeks ago, I never had a road bike like this before and she's supposed to take me around town.

Needless to say she's sitting down there right now, plotting how to kill me.

Well, not exactly the top-of-the-line model, but as I took a break from cycling for the last 12 years or so (which has obviously nothing to do with my driver's license that I got at that time) that's enough for me.

Thanks man, but it's pretty smashed up when you get up close to it. :p

The other day I took a few (68) pictures of Manhattan River Trail, which is out here were the Blue River and Kansas River meet. I thought this might be the place to share a few.

This (1936?) Ford pickup marks one end of the trail ...

Fun place to put some air under your tires:

And if you're really ambitious:

I'm not sure what this one is, a 1940 Chevy cab maybe? It's near the other end of the trail.

Anyway, its a great trail. Mostly hard-packed clay and sand so you can really fly. Someone has also been busy cutting a lot of new trails out there. I was out there for a couple hours and I didn't ride them all. Plus, you can't get lost! Go to far one way and you hit the river, go the other and you hit the levee.

Call me strange, but I like old, smashed up bikes. I gave away my old one because it was too small for me, otherwise I would have kept it. Damn, I wish I had trails near my house and that I could ride them without fear of being mugged.

Nice pictures!
