Yesterday was both bitter and sweet.

I handed over the keys to the 3 and an adventure lasting three years and four months came to an end. It wasn't the end I expected when I first took those keys, but such is life.

To me cars are more than just transportation. They're also more than a projection of my self-image, or some sort of status symbol. They're objects with which I develop relationships—it happened with Cameron (96 Camry), Karen (98 Camry), and Giggles (Miata) before, it's happening with Ekatarina (BRZ) now, and it happened with Blueberry (Mazda3) as well.

Our relationship began as my investment into a life I thought I'd have. For some time the pretense was there, but it eventually faded and I took some of my frustration out on the poor car. I resented her as if she'd somehow wronged me, while all she ever did was exactly what she always promised she'd do—be a great car.

Thank you for your service, Blueberry, and may someone appreciate you more than I ever did.
