Last information I got is that the new M3 will be V8 415hp.
There will be Z4 M and Z4 M Coupe - inline 6 3.2 - 340hp (probably the engine from E46 M3)

so I had a conversation here with some guys (I can't remember the nicknames) and I denied about Z4 M version, so I admit , I was wrong, it comes January 2006

That stuff has been anounced a couple of weeks ago...

hmm ... so the Z4 M or whatever it's called only gets the straight 6? Was hoping for the V8.

I mean ... the SLK55 was one mean car with its V8, thought BMW would follow and challenge it. Maybe it won't. So I suppose it would be closer to Boxter S then ...
 
You really can't give that car the 415 hp v8 from the upcoming M3...
Its way lighter and therefore would trash the M3... A thing BMW won't risk, I guess...
It will still make mincemeat out of the SLK55, as its lighter and has only 25hp less than it... And you will be able to turn off the TC...

Well, they did put the then current M3 engine in the M roadster (Z3), so why not put the V8 in the Z4, the M3 and Z4 aren't really competitors anyway.
 
When did they put the 321 hp engine in it?

The E46 M3 was about to launch, afaik?

And just because you think so doesn't mean BMW thinks like that as well... Rumours I heard say, they delay the M version of the 1 series after the M3 launch not to make M3 customers buy the 1 ...

That's kinda wierd, AC schnitzer did put a V8 in one of their tuned version... why doesn't BMW want ?ber power in their roadster?

That's not true, the E46 wasn't launched when they put the 321hp I6 in it. It did take quite a while before they put teh 343hp I6 in it.
 
i missed the pics of the Z4 M coupe .. is it as cool as the M coupe? (i doubt it, since the car lines aren't all that stylish)
