BMW has announced details of a limited-edition version of BMW's 2006 World Touring Car, the BMW 320si.

Designed to comply with FIA homologation regulations, 500 BMW 320si's are destined for the UK out of 2,600 cars worldwide. All feature a hand-built four-cylinder engine made at BMW's engine plant at Hams Hall, near Coventry. The 2.0-litre unit delivers 173bhp at 7,000rpm and 147lb-ft of torque at 4,250rpm; 0-62mph takes 8.1 seconds and top speed is 140mph. Although inspired by the racetrack, the car still delivers 31.7mpg on the combined cycle and conforms to the Euro4 emissions regulations.

The specification of the 320si is based on the 3 Series M Sport model that includes front and rear aerodynamic body styling, sports seats, sports suspension and aluminium interior trim. Additionally, the BMW 320si features Touring Car-style alloy wheels with BMW Motorsport motif.

The limited production run of the BMW 320si starts in March 2006 and ends in September 2006, with first customer deliveries expected in April 2006. Retail pricing for the car is still to be confirmed, but expected to be approximately ?24,975.

I asked myself that same question.
It's BMW, it's no longer understandable...

So thats the diffrence eh...I prefer the normal M-pack wheels anyways so I can't see the point of this car.

The only point of producing this car is to comply with FIA homologation requirements.
It's not a fashion statement or a crazy new roadcar.

I love the design, BUT I don't see it point.

Imaginge this pulling up to an M3 (of any model) at a red light, and we all know who's gonna win the sprint ...

why is thie calld 320si .. the old once had is at the back (E30 320is aka M3, E36 318is (the only good 4cyl from BMW in the 90s))

i think the letter behind the i tells sth about the engine, like the 318is (16v), if the letter comes in front of the i, it tells sth about the chassis, or the car in general, 325 xi (4 wheel drive), 318 ti (compact), and now the 320 si (raceversion)

And it has a 4.cyl engine. The normal 2 l engine is 6-cyl...
