Bond 25 - "No Time To Die" - due for release April 2020

A new film. I've really enjoyed Craig as Bond. I've been rewatching some of the Pierce Brosnan films recently and have a new appreciation for his take on the character. Moore and Lazenby remain my least favorites.

I still think it's a shame Dalton only got to play the part twice thanks to some legal wrangling. His two films remain two of my all time favourites. Craig has been a good Bond, but the plots have let him down for all but Casino Royale.

I must be in the minority, but I really enjoyed the Bond films since Casino Royale. If anything, Casino Royale was the one that was silly - Bond has to go gamble the Queen's money and beat the terrorist to save the world? This is the best plan they can come up with?

Lazenby was hamstrung by having his dialogue dubbed by somebody else for all the scenes where he was impersonating the genealogist. Of course, the fact that he wasn't actually an actor probably didn't help either.

???

I’m expecting future films to be completely tepid, but I might have an ounce of respect if they make her character an unrepentant, irreverent misandrist.

EDIT: So far uncofirmed. Just a ‘tip.’ Barbara Broccoli said last year there’d never be a female Bond. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Interesting. Thats what I thought too, but I've seen several allegedly reputable sources say this is "reportedly confirmed". But then they're also saying Bond 25, which we all know will be a Craig film, so who knows if its just garbage rumormill or they mean Bond 26.

I did hear an interview that gave away the beginning of the plot...

Bond starts off retired on Jamaica and is called back into service

So maybe this has something to do with that?

With all the production turmoil, I'm sadly not setting my hopes high.

Oh...no, the movie will be tepid and held together by better-than-average action sequences at best. You have a lead who is only in it for the money, production issues galore, and clickbait sharks smelling outrage in the water and turning it into drama for fun and profit.

Still, it will at least be better than Octopussy...one hopes.

No Bond can be as bad as Moonraker.

That was by far not the worst. When you think of bad Bond films, names like "Die Another Day" and "Quantum of Solace" come to mind.

No Bond can be as bad as Moonraker.

You take that back!

It is impossible for me to be objective about "Die Another Day", as it was the first Bond flick I ever saw, so I have an exceedingly high tolerance for the crappy song, the invisible car, the guy changing his identity but omitting to have the diamonds removed from his face, and all other assorted stupidity. As for QoS, I don't know, It seems I got hit with the MiB neuralyzer the second after I finished watching it.

No Bond can be as bad as Moonraker.

Another movie we can reasonably hope this will be better than, yes.

Hmmm. First Bond film I saw was Diamonds are Forever, which is consistently ranked as a terrible Bond film, but I still love it, probably for that same reason.
