BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

This is from a source close to the rebel Tories.

Tonight’s decisive result is the first step in a process to avert an undemocratic and damaging no deal. No 10 have responded by removing the whip from two former chancellors, a former lord chancellor and Winston Churchill’s grandson. What has has happened to the Conservative party?
Mark Spencer, the chief whip, has been ringing the Tory rebels telling them they are having the whip withdrawn, we’ve been told. Philip Hammond, the former chancellor, has already had the call. As of now, he is technically no longer a Conservative MP.

Boris Johnson's call for general election rejected by MPs

The no deal blocking bill heads to the House of Lords on Thursday. If it passes there, I think the Queen has to approve when Boris brings it to her!

An amendment led by Labour’s Stephen Kinnock, which would resurrect Theresa May’s three times-rejected Brexit plan as a possible focus for any extension ....passed by default.

If the opposition get their way, its likely a no deal will be blocked, possible care taker PM installed to get extension to Jan 31st 2020 and election in November.

Ken Clarke tells MPs: 'I do think the Prime Minister has a tremendous skill in keeping a straight face whilst he's being so disingenuous'.

Nicholas Soames pays tribute to Boris Johnson, "whose serial disloyalty has been such an inspiration"

Ken Clarke's highly concentrated concrete arguments are so refreshing when listening to all the other lying bullshit coming from BoJo and co.

Will be priceless if he is appointed caretaker PM!

What exactly happened to the 21 MPs that voted against their party? Are they sacked? Are they no longer part of the party? What happens to their places as MPs, other more loyal people from within the party will replace them?

What exactly happened to the 21 MPs that voted against their party?
This is as far as I know:

Are they sacked?
No. They keep their seats until they resign as MPs or until the next election.

Are they no longer part of the party?
Yes. Which is astonishing to me because expelling someone from a German party is a complicated affair and you cannot do it this quickly.

What happens to their places as MPs, other more loyal people from within the party will replace them?
Since they were elected personally, the party cannot simply replace them. What it can do is "remove the whip", i.e. exclude them from the parliamentary group. They stay in the House of Commons (see above) and will almost certainly not be Conservative candidates in the next election, whenever that might be.

Only PM to lose their first Commons vote was Pitt the Younger in 1793. BoJo has lost THREE in a little over 24 hours!

The shortest serving was George Canning at 119 days, but that was only because he died. Still reckon Boris has more than a fighting chance of taking that record as well if the election takes place early in November and the Tories get hammered at the Polls.

And over 200k people have registered to vote in the last 72 hours, with more than half of them aged 18-35. Good news because younger people tend in general to be more left wing and pro-Remain.

Amber Rudd quits Cabinet blaming Brexit inaction

The ex-work and pensions secretary said the government was having no "formal negotiations" with the EU about a new Brexit deal, only "conversations".
Instead, 80-90% of its time was spent preparing for an "inferior" no-deal option, she said.

"However I no longer believe leaving with a deal is the government's main objective."

Philip Hammond
I’m afraid the Conservative Party has been taken over by unelected advisors, entryists and usurpers who are trying to turn it from a broad church into an extreme right-wing faction. Sadly, it is not the party I joined.

I find this interesting. I don't follow U.K. politics that closely, but that is a lot of changes over the last couple of years.

Could MPs take the PM to court to force Brexit delay?

MPs pass emergency debate motion

House of Commons
Parliament

The government is defeated on Dominic Grieve’s humble address, which calls on ministers to publish corrrespondence over suspending Parliament, and no-deal Brexit planning papers.

The vote passes by 311 to 302 - a majority of nine.

Motion passed to force BoJo to honour rule of law.

Motion calling on government to comply with no-deal law

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn closes the debate by saying his party will support an early general election "when the government has made it clear they will carry out the law", asking it to extend the Brexit deadline to prevent no-deal.

The motion calling on the government to comply with legislation designed to prevent a no-deal Brexit is passed without a vote.
