BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

MPs are voting on the motion put forward by the government, that there should be an early general election.

Government defeated on motion calling

The government has been defeated on a motion pushing for an early general election because not enough MPs supported the PM’s call.
Under the Fixed Term Parliaments Acts, Boris Johnson needed the support of two-thirds of MPs - at least 434 - to trigger an early poll.
But only 293 MPs voted for an election – with 46 against. We’ll find out how many MPs abstained on the motion later.

Second time Government call for election rejected.

Tradition dictates that the speaker comes from one of the two main parties and alternates between the two. Bercow was previously a Tory so the next speaker should have a Labour background.

Also during an interview on the BBC Radio 4 Today programme this morning, Tory defector Oliver Letwin has basically said that some form of deal needs to be agreed with the EU by the next government following an election and then presented back to the country in another referendum as parliament would never be able to come to a consensus regarding what deal would be acceptable.

And of course if the options on the referendum are , This Deal, No Deal or Remain then the Leave vote will be split and Remain should win.

Choice probably should easier, This Deal or Remain.

So Boris has until Oct 17th to get a deal or he will be forced by law to ask for a Brexit extension....

Scottish judges rule Parliament suspension is unlawful

The decision overturns an earlier ruling from the court, which said last week Mr Johnson had not broken the law.

But it will not immediately affect the current suspension of Parliament, which started in the early hours of Tuesday.

This is because no order has been given by the court to cancel the suspension ahead of a full hearing at the Supreme Court in London which starts on Tuesday of next week.

Excellent. This is just the kind of news that increases the chance of an end to Tory rule and hopefully see much of the European Research Group lose their seats or be consigned to the opposition back benches.

I wish I didn’t think I have to say it, but: no, not with a split opposition it doesn’t. Niggle Verarsch has already promised that the Brexshit ”Party” will not field candidates against pro-leave Tory MPs, hasn’t he?

FPTP will continue distorting the actual will of the people.

So a General Election would end up with an extremely divided result most likely. Neither Remain or Hard or soft leave would have enough power to dictate the future. So, what? Hard leave wins by default, eventually, when Europe gets tired of this crap?
The only real option would be to have a second referendum where Remain won by a large margin.

Boris has apparently ruled out a tie up with the Brexit Party in any forthcoming election.

Commentators on the Today programme this morning said this is basically because it would show weakness. I can see a U-Turn on this once an election is called.

Lib Dems manifesto is to revoke Article 50 should they come to power. This gives them a great chance against both Labour and the Tories in strong Remain constituencies but will I doubt would be enough to gain an overall majority. If there is an extension and a General Election we are likely to end up with another parliament more hung than a well endowed donkey full of viagra.

Lib Dems want to revoke. Labour probably wants soft Brexit. Would they come to middle ground, vote together for a second referendum?
