My trusty old 2.1mp Canon PowerShot S10 lasted me a good few years of decent point-and-shoot photography, but now I've decided to upgrade to a better camera with more features. I'm not really much of a pro photographer nor do often spend a lot of time taking pictures, but I'd want to experiment more on different techniques, lighting, and stuff.
Right now I'm somewhat leaning towards the 5.0mp PowerShot A95, and general concensus/reviews recommend it to be the best all-around 5.0mp camera for the money. These go for US$299 these days, and I do like the neat flip-out screen to prevent damage to the LCD screen, among other things.
Then there is the 4.0mp Fujifilm FinePix S5100, which I haven't heard too much about, but reviews on it seemed pretty positive. I like the feel and handling of the thing, a tad more grip than the A95 and very SLR-like. It's got a big zoom lens, and even an electonic dsiplay on the viewfinder. Though the LCD screen area could've been more larger. It's a bit more expensive in most places, at $349 I think.
I don't know. I'm very torn between these two because they are both solid and well-built, but I'm skeptical on actual performance. I'm not too concerned about the difference in MP count as I don't think I'll print pictures larger than 8 x 10. If you were to pick between the two, which would you take home?
Moreover, what are some other decent choices for under $350?
