So... I was bored and I was thinking about some documentaries about the car that are worth watching due to quality and content, or have a very special automotive topic.

I came to the idea via this docu which someone a couple of months ago posted in the Random Thoughts thread.

And yes, I know. One can find quite a lot just by typing in "Car" and "Documentary" into YouTube. But I find it very hard to differentiate between good and bad ones since there are so many, and I don't wanna waste a couple of hours on bad ones.

So, people of FinalGear - do you have any good recommendations? I'd be very thankful. Maybe we could use this thread as to collect them all in one place.

The Pagani Huayra one always comes to mind

Can't rep you atm but thanks, that's nice! :)

The Megafactories series is a good start. But in the end it depends on each person tastes: i, for example, am a fan of old racing coverages, even though i'm not sure if they qualify as documentaries. Stuff like this :

This one covers the '58 Alpine Rally. Amazing scenery (including the Stelvio Pass) and now-collectible cars getting driven hard, what's not to like ? Also, late 50s idea of safety

A promo video made by Fiat, showcasing its involvement in motorsports through its brands (Fiat, Lancia, Autobianchi and Ferrari), from entry-level one-make series aimed at youngs and womens to WRC, Gr.5 and F1. Also, from 30:57 on, a whole bunch of 1970s womens to drool over: grid girls, fans, reporters...

Another one by Fiat, covering the 1980 WRC season. Pretty cool to see the variety of competitors, which includes Datsun, Porsche and Mercedes.

And this Audi one

There were a couple of others specifically about Group B that seem to have been removed off YouTube. I'll see if I can find them on Vimeo or DailyMotion or something.

Thank you both very, very much! Can't rep you at the moment, miki.

I know the megafactory series, quite cool. I also love old races - I have an external harddrive with three terabytes nearly full, it's my own collection of old racin coverages. I have a racingfor.me account, that's where most of it comes from.

The videos you guys linked is pretty much exactly what I love to watch. :)

This guy have a lot of stuff, including the famous Speed Merchants, but since its most recent upload is from 2010, most of them are low quality (360p or worse). And they're also splitted in 9 min parts

Open this, then look at the related videos column, there's a bit of everything.

Can't find a link to the whole thing, but there's a BBC documentary called 'Grand Prix: The Killer Years' that's fantastic. It's about how absurdly dangerous Grand Prix racing was in the '50s and '60s. Lots of great interviews and footage.

Those were the ones! I managed to catch them when they were still on YouTube and save them. Those and a few others are on one of my harddrives.

This is also a really good film

I remember loving those Victory By Design documentaries when I was younger, but having found a few rips online, they are looking very dated.

Found some of them on youtube, but they're not ideal.

A great MotoGP documentaty is Faster

Had the sound off, but this had some very interesting footage of the GT development process.

So, anyone knows where i can watch/download a good copy "Still Too Fast To Race" ? The only one i could find is a low-res vhsrip.

A preview from an upcoming documentary, called The Impossible Glory, about Bob Bondurant and the whole Shelby vs Ferrari thing. Seems really cool, but i can't find any release date.

Not really a documentary, just a compilation of racing footage in chronological order. Some of the clips are silent, some have german commentary.
