Car in 1990 TG intro?

In the intro of the 1990 TG, theres a black car with all those projected graphics on it, the colors make me sick but I'm curious about what the car is. It has popup headlights and rectangular side markers as well as a sharp/angled front end. I have a 1989 MR2 and it looks like it.

Umm, the picture is a MR2, or are you just saying it kinda looks like that?
 
I thought it was a Lotus Esprit.
 
i was asking what car and saying i suspected it looked like an MR2 but a lotus esprit makes sense

they look very similar but the shape of the headlight is pretty unique for the esprit

What does your MR2 look like if it doesn't look like that?

And what is a "back car" ?, do you mean black?

And what's "all that reflective stuff" ?, you mean glass, most cars have it these days...

my mr2 looks pretty much like the white one in that photo.

i was just asking what car was in the intro, and thought the mr2 was pretty close. but the esprit is correct from what i see.

back car = black car, i suck at typing

reflective stuff is the colorful images projected on the car. not glass :lol:
 
haven't seen any of the old top gears

but possible it's an old RX7? they also look like that
or a triump TR7

and the yellow car you posted in a lotus esprit
 
I figured it out guys. It couldn't be the Esprit because the headlight is plain wrong. I watched the intro again and the shot of the taillight gave it away. (note the "turbo" badge on the rear bumper as well)

It was a black 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo. The picture above is a year or two older and doesn't have the headlight sprayer. Note the shape of the popup headlights as well as the sharp lines on the bonnet. You can also compare the shape of the real spoiler as well.

For the time (1989), there was only the Supra Turbo that really stood out in the blue collar sports coupe market. It's competitors was introduced into the market in 1990--NSX and Skyine GT-R.

I knew that the tail shot was of a Supra... my brother has one in blue... but I didn't think that the front looked like the supra. Guess it might :)

Definitely the Supra as far as I can see - would suit anyway as they show the rear lights of it in the intro as well.
