I don't usually read the junkmail in my mailbox, but I got this VW one today and I flipped through it and looked at the prices. That got me thinking, why don't we compare prices on chosen models to really see the actual difference there is between the prices due to taxes etc.

Here's the VW 4Motion:

Sorry for the crap-photo, it's taken with my Nokia 6100 w. cam ...

Norwegian Krone Exchange

290.250 NOK= ca. 35,000 EURO

What does this edt. cost at your local dealer?

Just feel free to post pics and the price of that car - as other suggestions later on in the thread when others have had the chance to contribute with his/her local price for the previous car discussed :)

I've always been wondering how our pricelevel here compare to levels elsewhere in the world. Let's find out !!

No mk5 4motion Golf in Canada, since we are still stuck with the mk4.

Price of a VR6 FWD Golf starts at CAD$30,000, about EUR$19000.

With a 14.5% tax the price comes to around EUR$21900.
Cars are a lot cheaper over here.

OMG, now I wish I hadn't started this thread cuz I realize I'm actually be envious of all the cheap prices out there ;)

Do you think the carprices are fear where you live?
--> Do you think the carprices are FAIR where you live? ;)

the golf isn't really a good car to compare i think, it's like WAY to expensive. and it's made in europe, so it'll be cheaper on the european continent than somewhere else, no?

you should compare sth like the civic, which is imported all over the world, and the sellers :)s) will have to pay around the same amount to import the car, and than you can start compare what comes extra to the price, what makes the difference i think

do i make any sense? :?

Ehhh...no! :p

For example take the VW Phaeton, it is over 30.000$ cheaper in the USA than it is in Germany. Or the BMW X5, 20,000 dollars cheaper in the US! :?

I've always wondered about the price differences between Germany and the U.S.
Do we pay more in Germany so that they can sell the cars cheaper overseas ?
Or are the "German" cars they sell there are made in Mexico ?

It's "like way too expensive" not "to ..." (since you're being picky ;))

i deserved that i guess

hasn't it anything to do with the kyoto pact that cars are more expensive over here than in america? (who didn't sign it, but on certain areas have stricter regulations than europe)

i just heard a add on the radio for the peugeot 307, for 11 000?, and i taught it was a bargain...
