Custom skins for your car

The skins of the car you drive in LFS can be modified by opening the "Skins" folder and using an editing program such as Photoshop (or MS Paint :yucky: ) to customize it. If you want others to see it, you have to send me (jostyrostelli@hotmail.com ) your file, along with your screen name, and I'll include it here. Make sure you send me the exact same filename as you have in your Skins-folder. If it's different LFS won't recognize your skin because it has a different name.

Custom skins of regular racers:

ESPNSTI: XR_GT_FinalGear
AndyHui: XR_GT_FG
Josty: XR_GT_Josty2
Swek: XR_GT_Swek

So we all have to exchange skins? Where do I put yours to be able to see it in race?

Hmm. Skin viewer program I found on liveforspeed.net doesn't work. "application error" :(

In order to see each other's? Yes.

No idea.

Where do I put it? There's skins and skins_x

skins if for you, skins_x are the skins of people you know so you get to see them when you race online

Kinda old, but belonged in this thread..

^ Post the actual skin file, that way we can see it in an online race. ;)

Why don't we make a Team FinalGear skin that is partially customizable. I think that's a good idea.

So ESPN can I just save your image and put it in the Skins_X?

How do I know that YOU will be the one with that skin? And not somebody else?

Anyway here's mine.

Yes.

Well, you wouldn't

Why would you use yousendit instead of imageshack? With imageshack, nobody can get it after 25 downloads (or a certain number of days).
Alternatively, you could use something like geocities (which I use to host the replays and setups).
With imageshack, you just have to tell people what to save it as (which I forgot to do  . I'll have to edit my post when I get home)

Okey, still don't get the idea how the skins work in the game..but you don't either so we'll see...

I hope we don't have all cars with Dutch flags saturday...

Just right click, save as to the skins_x directory.
Only thing I forgot is that ImageShack messes with the filename, so you need to list what the filename of the original file is (which I forgot to do).
So in your post put something along the lines of:
Right click, save as "XR_GT_Jostyrostelli.jpg" to the skins_x directory (or whatever the name of the original file is).
If it doesn't have the right filename, it's probably not going to work.

It would probably run ok on low detail / low resolution, what are your machine's specs?
