I think it is a VIN number or something and he would like someone to check it out for him...some how.

I don't think anybody can do it for free...unless they happen to work in the "Motor Vehicle Registry" office...but that seem unlikely.
 
well it's kinda a common place thing on car forums to have a dedicated carfax dude. or something that do it for everybody. Don't see one here though so mabee join a forum for the car your looking at, and ask around.
 
I take it "carfax" is a Canadian thing?

I'm sure it is the same everywhere....just different name.

They have it in the US too. You'd be amazed on other car forums how quick people will respond with these reports. ;)

i dont think its that hard to understand? he clearly states that he wants a carfax report, then gives you his vin number
 
yea at nico the nissan forums, i had my car carfaxed for free and only took a day. a carfax shows the history of a car like any accidents, actual milage, and previous owners.

And yes, its not hard to understand but carfax doesn't work for euro cars, tried already :)
 
i knew exactly what he wanted.

carfax (a vehicle history report) is common in the states too. Some people have dealer access, and will search cars for others in the forums/community, others will get an unlimited subscription for a week or two, when they are shopping for a car, and will run a report for others as well. you can also pay per search, its the most expensive way, and if worse comes to worst, thats what most people do (aka, if they cannot find anyone else to mooch off of :D
 
Ah, makes a hella lot more sense now. I knew what Carfax was, just not that there were multi-subscribtions. ;)
 
it costs money but you can get a 60 day membership type thing, as a guy on the mr2 forums has right now, so i just sent this to him and there you go, free vin check. ;)
