just got a new car..
so who needs to check the car on carfax leave the VIN here i'll copy-paste the full report. (or sent it to mail)

Far too dodgy sounding for my liking.

You'd have to have rocks in your heads to send your VIN to some random, let alone send it to anyone at all.

for sure - unlike the charming ethiopian chap I've sent my credit card details to help him clear some money, my healthy commission should come in any day now...

There's no problem with sending a VIN to someone to have a CARFAX done on it. But this guy does only have 18 posts, so it can SEEM sketchy.

But consider this: Go to http://www.autotrader.com/ and look at all the cars with their VINs on proud display on a public website. It's like showing your license plate. If someone wants your VIN, all they have to do is walk up to your car with a pen and paper and peer at the bottom of your windscreen.

fbc: Yours too?? Mine is coming soon as well. Although they need a little bit more money from me to get over the bank fees. But who cares, money is on the way!!

Dr. Woo :No see here in Australia we have been having troubles with car rebirthing. Its where you put a legal VIN number onto a stolen vehicle so it can be sold without the authorities knowing.

I also had a stab at Skr4tCH cause, the last time he was on here, all he did was speak bullshit.

i dont see the problem if youre shopping for a car. whoops someone got someone elses VIN, oh no!

Yeah, but in Australia, if you buy a car with a false VIN, even without knowning, you will never be able to drive, insure or register the vehicle.

That is why they have background checks... well, they do for Victoria, not sure about the other states.

^Not sure what a REVS check is but here you ring VicRoads, give them the VIN, engine number and rego, they tell you if it all matches up... obviously, if there was an anomoly in there, they let you know and you don't buy the car. And hopefully VicRoads lets the cops know (which, according to a recent report, they haven't been doing)

Ahh k... a REVS check here in QLD is a check to see whether of not there is money owed on the vehicle. If there is and you buy the car, you also inherit the debt along with it.

I'm not sure if they also check if the car is illegal.
