Cars with an insane amount of special editions

I wouldn't call the Ferrari 250 series "special editions".

Subaru Impreza? RB320, WR1, Catalunya Edition, Colin McRae, 555 Limited, S202, S203, S204, Tuner Edition...spread across 3 continents...

I'll see if I can pull up a complete list. It may kill me.

Edit: HOLY SHIT, I found the entire list. Some crazy German beat me to it!

I would HHHHAAAAATTEEEEE to be the Subaru Headquarter's Parts Department. Sweet mercy, part numbers would be all over the place.

If it's anything like Ford has done (just an example I'm familiar with due to the Mustang) they've come up with a universal part numbering system that boils things down easily.

Added Mini and Subaru, although I don't think that Subaru website was complete (McRae and Richard Burns weren't on there).

Also alphabetized the lists.

You should add the Shelby Mustangs on there. I don't see a Terlingua.

Update: Added the Ferrari 250

That doesn't count. In those days, Ferrari only made the chassis, which were then sent off to coach builders to fabricate a bodywork on it. The 250 in the model name just means that the engine had a capacity of 250cc per cylinder. Other parts of the model name say something about the chassis the engine was mounted to or the coachbuilder that made the car.

The golf list seems to be missing the R32 :p

LOL @ all the different rock band "special edition" golfs.

The Range Rover had a lot of special editions.

Started doing this Off the top of my head but you can find the whole list by going through the different years on http://www.rangerovers.net/modelspecs/index.html I ended up just going through the whole list and adding a few they missed.

In no particular order.
Range Rover 40th anniversary model (40th anniversary of Land Rover as a Company)
Range Rover 30th anniversary model(30th anniversary of the Range Rover as a vehicle)
4.6 HSE Linley Edition (this was an interesting one too)

Price was about $150,000 (over ?100,000) The ultimate and most exclusive Range Rover ever-Range Rover Linley-embodies the spirit and flair of world-renowned designer David Linley. A total of 10 of the all black vehicles were sold worldwide. Linley models were available through Land Rover Special Vehicles on a made-to-order basis The model was designed by David Linley and after each Range Rover Linley was completed on the production it was transferred to Land Rover?s on-site Special Vehicles facility for a further 100 hours of hand-finishing from craftsmen. The all-black vehicle is inspired by Linley?s ?Metropolitan? range of furniture that features black wood and ebony finishes. The piano black coachwork is achieved by hand-spraying with a solid black paint which is hand-polished to a mirror finish. To complement the coachwork the 18 inch ?Hurricane? wheels have a unique ?Shadow Chrome? finish. Discreet touches of chrome and the vehicle identity in stainless steel add the final detail to the exterior of the vehicle. To match the coachwork even the windows are polished with jeweler?s rouge to add that extra sparkle. The interior is also all in black. Piano black veneer on the fascia, cubby box, picnic trays and door cappings contrast with seats trimmed in the highest grade automotive leather. Black leather is also applied to the headlining, parcel tray and other detailing. Luxurious thick-pile carpet is used for the floor of the cabin and luggage compartment, floor mats are made of black lambs wool. All have a navigation system and twin screen TV with video

County Edition
Hunter Edition
Great Divide Edition
There is a Rumor that A Desert Storm Edition Range Rover was made in 1991 but they supposedly only made one.
County LWB(Long Wheel Base)
County Sport
County Sable Edition
Marrakesh Morocco Show Cars Interesting history for these cars

Land Rover North America imported twenty County LWB and five County SWB models with approx. 4,000 miles each that were originally at a car show in Marrakesh, Morocco. LRNA issued a memo that said "These vehicles from the Marrakesh show may have non-standard U.S. specification color interior carpeting and the Zone Manager must be contacted for special parts requests for these affected interior pieces."

Brooklands Edition
25th Anniversary Model
Aspen Silver Model
Brooklands/TWR

Polo Edition
Panther Edition
4.6 HSERhino Edition ( I Always liked these)
4.6 HSE Vitesse Edition
4.6 HSE Kensington Edition
4.6 SSE Edition (by Cameron Concepts
TReK Edition
50th Anniversary Edition
4.6 HSE Callaway Edition
4.6 HSE Autobiography Edition
4.6 HSE First Dartmouth Homelink Edition

4.6 HSE Holland & Holland Edition (My Favorite special edition Range Rover)

Suggested Retail Price $79,000 All were ?Tintern Green Micatelic? (a bluish green) and had body color bumpers and side skirts with a Holland and Holland badge on the right side of the tailgate. They also had body color paint on the inside of the spokes on the 18? Hurricane wheels. The seats were a dark ?bridal leather? with walnut piping and woodgrain leather gunstock gray and walnut wood accents gunmetal blue trim details on fascia rail (the gunmetal blue trim looked cool, but the blueish plastic that Land Rover put over the standard chrome trip is starting to peel off many of the four year old vehicles I have seen). They had a leather covered glove box, under steering wheel area and center console sides (most Range Rovers had plastic in these areas).

Photos at right and below: CB Claiborne's Holland & Holland RR

The words Holland & Holland were in gold on the wood dash trim in front of the passenger. They had a two tone brown and black leather steering wheel and two tone door trim with dark leather to match the seats on the doors. All came with the Land Rover kit to turn the spare tire cover in to a picnic table. A pair of Holland & Holland duffel bags (MSRP $1,500) also came with each vehicle (but for some strange reason no shotgun case). Land Rover made 125 for the U.S. in 2000. They had the Harman-Kardon Premium Audio System With 7 Speakers Including Powered Subwoofer and 180 Watts Of Power Along with A 6 Disc CD Changer.

4.6 HSE Vogue Special Edition

Borrego Edition

Westminster Edition (Fairly Common have made them almost every year since 2002)

Oxford Edition
G4 Challenge Edition (One of the more bad ass special editions)

Land Rover made a total of 8 special US Spec. Range Rovers for the G4 Challenge that were all painted "Tangiers Orange" and came with the Land Rover "Heated Accessories/Cold Weather Package". They had silver "Foundry Finish" trim from the European base models inside rather than the wood on other US Spec models, a special fire extinguisher under the drivers seat and the factory dog guard. None had tinted glass (so passengers could be photographed in competition). The G4 model had the factory full length black heavy duty roof rack with spot lamps attached to the front of the roof rack and the factory rear ladder, and rear lamp guards. Up front they had the OEM lamp guards and some kind of brush bar. Some (but not all) had a front winch integrated in to the brush bar.

20th anniversary edition Range Rover(20th year the Range Rover was official sold in the US)

I don't have a passcode to get in there anymore sorry.

Fine <_< I'll remove them. Adding the Range Rovers though.

Some of those range Rover editions were multiple special editions over multiple years and generations. I would count them twice but thought I should say something.

The Great Divide Edition was done twice for two different years and two different generations. First in 1991 and again in 98 or 99 I forget.

The Westminster edition like I said has been done every year since 2002 except for 2003 and 2006.
